-- Roleplay Thread --
Welcome to the the Adrift information thread! This thread will act as the info page and initial signup, the character sheets page connected to this thread will be used for submissions, and a separate thread for the actual roleplay will be set up once all roles are filled! Once accepted, you will receive a link to our discord that is mainly for OOC chat and even more info!
There will be limited spots because of the setting and its space constraints, mainly focusing on filling the roles, but if you would like to enter the roleplay after all roles have been filled, please feel free to add your character sheet and I will figure out how to work you in, as long as the boat has not left the dock yet in the roleplay.
This roleplay will have an end, but that end will be entirely decided by the players. There are many possibilities for how this roleplay will go, and I do have a few loose plans to gently coax the progression towards them, but just know! Your character's actions and reactions will directly affect the outcome for everyone!
To make this thread not a scroll fest, I've implemented Spoilers, to see the information click the Toggle Spoiler button to expand!

The Innsaei Pack has lived near the docks of a small seaside town for generations. Just down the beach from the docks is a forest that spans for miles, circling around the town and only being broken up by a few roads in and out of town. The pack is mostly made up of strays, with the higher ups being born into the pack. Generally, they're pretty nice to the lone dogs in the town that have decided not to join them. They police the streets and forest, just making sure no one becomes a problem enough for the humans to take notice and start collecting up the stray population and shipping them out of town, or worse. They take care of the problematic as they see fit, but do help lone dogs that aren't quite able to take care of themselves but refuse to join the pack with the understanding that they can be called upon to help the pack in return.
A dog (or small gang of 3) has taken residence on the docks themselves, taking to living on abandoned boats and under the docks, and being a small nuisance to the local fishers by stealing their catches when they've brought them in. Innsaei has taken to trying to stop this dog(s) but has never quite been able to catch them. That was until they had a stakeout one night and chased the dog(s) onto a boat. The boat wasn't tied well, and while the dogs were running around trying to corner and catch them, the boat drifted out to sea. Set adrift, they now must figure out how to work together and get back home, or starve and die out at sea
The start of the roleplay could start with the chasing of the Deviant(s) onto the boat, or after the boat has drifted away from shore for a ways.

1. Minimum 200 words per post.
This is a literate roleplay and it is assumed if you are submitting a character, you will be able to keep up with everyone else. This should be a pretty chill roleplay, so it is expected that every post has at least 200 words. https://wordcounter.net/ is a free site that you can just copy and paste your post into! The number of words of your post should be posted at the bottom of each reply | Words: 595. Roleplay posts should be done in the THIRD person, and proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation would be amazing. Obviously not every single post is going to have perfect everything, but your post should at least be readable and able to be understood. 2. No metagaming, autohitting, or godmodding.
This is a realistic roleplay, you should only know what your character has been told or physically been able to perceive from someone's body language or actions. Also be mindful of taking control of other characters without agreement first. If you would like to ghost someone, such as walking into a room with another character who has not posted that they are walking that way, be sure to get clear permission from the player that you can do so. 3. No magic.
Although our characters will have human thought, words, and some minor actions outside of an animal's physical capabilities, there will not be any mutations or magic that can't be naturally found in nature. 5. Activity.
As mentioned, this should be a pretty chill roleplay, but to give some incentive to keep a spot in the roleplay and your role, at least 2 posts a week must be done to keep your spot. If you are a higher ranking, then you will need to post at least 5 times a week. I completely understand that life can get hectic, just give me a heads up so I can ghost your character until you can return. If needed, we will have a posting order but otherwise posting will be as people can. If you are unable to post for 2 weeks, or have disappeared, your character will be removed from the roleplay. If you come back later on, we might be able to work your character back in as long as you are able to post. 6. Separation of Character and Player.
Understand that the character may be an asshole, but the player more than likely is not. If you have an issue with how a character is interacting with yours, don't be mad at the player for playing the character as they naturally would. If its becoming an issue, then talk to the player about not interacting as much or figuring out a way to get the characters to be a little more friendly. Never force anyone to change their character, they do NOT have to get along, and this allows for natural rp drama. 7. No drama.
If you're having tensions with another player, figure it out in pm. Do not bring it into the chat and especially don't reflect it into the RP. If issues do start leaking over, or they start to spread to other players, you and the other person(s) will be removed from the roleplay. 8. Respect.
This should go without saying, but respect everyone and not just me or the other potential moderators. Everyone is going to have different life views, morals, and opinions, but homophobia, racism, and jabs at someone's religious beliefs will absolutely not be tolerated. 9. Keep interactions PG-13.
This is a public Lioden thread, and we will more than likely not be the only ones reading. Relationships are allowed, but do not roleplay out any bedroom intimacy. Please use the fade to black method. 10. OOC Talk.
Please keep all OOC talk to this thread, this includes keeping it out of the character submission thread. This will make it easier on me to be able to scroll quickly to someone's character and not have to go through pages of chatter over someone's sheet. Quick quips in roleplay posts is fine, but full out back and forth OOC conversations should not be happening in the roleplay thread. 11. Approved Characters.
Only approved characters may post in the roleplay thread, if you are interested in joining the roleplay after it has already begun, please feel free to pm me first. 12. Death
Death is a very real possibility in this roleplay, you can check out just a few of the challenges that might lead to your character's death, so please be prepared that a misstep may lead to your character going overboard and not being able to be saved. Killing other's character must be discussed thoroughly beforehand with all parties involved and me to make sure it makes sense for the character to do so, and it'll work with the plot.
The town itself is a small fishing town, located in the fictional place of Stormbreak, Washington. Many of the businesses being focused on the shore and two main streets of shops going through the center of town and leading out to the small beach for the locals and tourists to enjoy. On either side of the beach are fisheries and docks, some abandoned but most all are currently in use. More unnatural production has stopped to keep the seas clear, but there's some construction on the north side of cutting down trees and building a new harbor. A forest surrounds the town and goes for quite a few miles before it hit another town. The Innsaei pack lives in the south part of the forest and city, living in a rock outcropping that starts to go up the mountain a few yards into the forest.
The S.S Callisto is a converted trawler boat that was once used for fishing. Now it's a secondary home to a family of 5 that use it in the summer months to travel the ports up and down the Washington shores. The controls and steering have been minimized so all you need is to turn the key and go, no more of all that pesky fish locating equipment and controls. A GPS screen replaces that with a few buttons below to navigate it. This part of the boat is raised up and enclosed with one door into it and 180 degrees of windows so the driver can see out and to the sides as much as possible. The control box also has a large first aid kit with latches to keep all of its contents inside. It includes similar contents to the list found here.
Below the control box is a refinished living space with coaches on either side once you enter, a table in the center that can be moved and latched into points on the floor so it doesn't move around. Further in is a full kitchen complete with above and knee level cabinets, a fridge, a sink that is hooked up to a reverse osmosis machine that converts seawater to freshwater at 50 gallons an hour and stored in a tank below deck, a stove, and a microwave that's been fitted into the overhead cabinets. The kitchen has some nonperishable boxed and canned foods, herbs and spices in magnetic jars attached to the fridge, and some essential oils for the oil diffuser that would usually be located on one of the tables, and a can opener mounted on the wall. There is also a large potted aloe plant in between the kitchen and living space that's been mounted to the wall by a metal ring that holds the pot about a foot off the ground
Beside the kitchen are stairs that go below deck to three bedrooms with pocket doors, a bathroom with sink and shower hooked up to the same osmosis machine, and the engine room that has been partially converted into a second living space with a couch and some chairs, a table, and large cabinet of bedding and liquors. The bedrooms are pretty small, two of them containing twin sized beds, and the third being large enough for a queen sized bed. All three of build in closets and an end table next to each bed that are fastened into one of the walls. There are also mirrors on the backs of the pocket doors.
The canines will find miles and miles of sea on all sides of the boat as it drifts out further on the currents. There are fish that will come up to the boat, but it should be noted to be careful what you eat as some fish may be poisonous. Larger predators such as sharks can be seen from time to time, and it'd be good to mindful when going fishing or swimming. Being out at sea leaves the boat and its inhabitants exposed to the elements, not only the sun and rain but storms that could threaten to tip the boat.
As far as organics go, they may come across floating plants such as seaweed and Sargassum. They may also collect floating trash that might be useful to them.

IN PROGRESS
Will more than likely throw this onto the roleplay thread itself Food
Sign up for roles by commenting on this thread to reserve while you work on your character sheet. Provide at least 2 preferred roles, as I might reassign you if I find your character would fit better in another position. The pack dynamic can be completely decided by the pack players, but understand that they will have known each other for a while, if not their entire lives so I encourage pre-plotting before starting on your characters!
The roles below are the maximums for each, but not every single one needs filled to the max, or all the roles need filled. If you have any questions on other skills/jobs a role has, let me know! Reserved slots can still be applied for by others since I may move around characters to better fit roles!
If there is not x# then that means there is just one to fill
D E V I A N T (S)
Closed
I N N S A E I P A C K Alpha
Closed
The alpha is the leader of the pack, they make laws, oversee the pack, and dole out final punishments themselves. They would have been alpha for a few years now. They were born into the pack, but most likely not born into the role of alpha. They may have a mate, but their mate does not share the rank of alpha. [Alpha's mate is an open role to fill, but not necessary if the person playing alpha does not want one]
Beta
CLOSED
Beta is the right hand, they make sure the pack and the other strays in town are following the rules laid out by the Alpha. They may have been Beta for as long as the Alpha, or slightly less or longer. Beta can carry through to multiple Alphas, but Alphas can decide to replace them at any time. They may have a mate, but their mate does not share their rank of Beta. [Beta's mate is NOT open to fill]
Sentinel
Closed
The Sentinel is described as the head general, they are the leader of the Warriors, Hunters, and Scouts and they train each one themselves. Typically they will have a second and third to help them train canines in these roles. The Sentinel should have extensive experience in fighting, strategy, and hunting. They will more than likely be older than everyone else, or they could be a 4+ year old washed out military dog. They do not need to have been born into the pack, that can be left up to the player to decide. They can not have a mate, more than likely this is a personal rule for them as to not get caught up in love and have something valuable to lose.
The Third
Closed
The Third is the Sentinel's left hand man, and they accompany the Sentinel on runs such as these stakeouts instead of The Second so that in case something happens to either of them, the more experienced Second is left behind. The Third is more of a trainee, and more than likely was born into the pack and chosen from a young age for their potential to lead. This would be a younger dog, but would be over 1 at least to be taken on this stakeout. They may have a mate, though might have been told they can't or shouldn't have one when they get older.
Hunters x3
1 x Reserved for Umbra
1 x Reserved for SnowWolf
1 x OPEN
They are the main providers of the pack, specifically trained to catch both prey and unruly though anyone in the pack can go out hunting to help with them. There is a larger team of them, so these three were chosen for their capturing skills on this mission. They may have mates, but its unlikely their mates are also Hunters, though they can be! These can be a mix of born and Initiates, but they would have been hunters for the pack for at least a year.
Scouts x2
1 x Reserved for Goblin
Scouts main work is keeping an eye on all the strays in town and keeping tabs on them. They have the most knowledge on everyone in the pack and the strays outside the pack, and know the town like the back of their paw. The Scouts on this mission will have probably interacted with the Deviant(s), keeping notes on their habits, and might have tried enforcing the pack laws for strays on them. They may have mates, and its not uncommon for Scout mate teams to be a thing. They should know how to fight, but generally are a last resort fighter since their main job is to make nice and watch from afar.
Trainees x3
OPEN
1 x Zeeb
These are the 1 years old and above pups and even adults that are training to be Hunters and Scouts. They've had a few months of training already and this is their first big mission. This is a mission to prove if Hunter and/or Scout is really what they want to do, so their may be some that aren't completely into it, and others all gun ho about it.
Combat Medic x2
CLOSED
They would have brought one medic out, not their main one as this would be more referred to a combat medic. They are quick on their feet, have experience fighting though are told to stay out of the fighting as much as possible, and know quick life saving skills that are usually temporary fixes until the patient can be brought home to the actual medic. This can be a team, but I would like at least one for sure on the boat. They are allowed to have mates, and the mates can work together but usually their mates have a different rank
Living your life on the streets and in the wilds, you tend to work up some valuable skills in surviving. Pack life makes life a little easier, being provided for and working to hold up your spot on an easier life. Dodging cars, people, swimming, dog catchers, hunters, and sometimes some seriously harsh weather can make you wonder what its like to live behind the picket fences, but you enjoy it none the less. Building up skills to be able to take care of yourself and others has gotten this far, even if it means not really knowing where your next meal is going to be coming from. Its when you're thrown into a brand new environment that panic sets in and you lose all coherent thought. Life simply becomes live or die.
Some skills of fishing, swimming, and being on a boat in general may come easy to some dogs, but others may have lived their entire lives on solid ground. The boat went out to far, they could swim back, but the unseen currents could rip them away and further out to sea before they could say 'oops'. Survival might take precedence over enforcing the law of the land, but how will the canines get back home on a boat they've never been on before, a boat that hasn't been gassed up in probably ages. The electricity is going from solar panels on the roof of the control box, but just how much can they do out at sea?
A new pack dynamic may come into play with all the heavy hitters around and a few deviants that have rejected their laws and way of life. Will the deviant(s) subject themselves to the pack to live, or create chaos in the mist of surviving on a boat with them?
Natural, large, predators are out just below the surface, fishing is risky. Swimming is even more risky. They'll have to be mindful of going out on their own or in groups, and have a clear plan back onto the boat at any sign of trouble
How will they handle the elements? The blazing hot sun, torrential downpours that make the waves stand at 20 feet high and threaten to tip the boat? What about other boats of humans that might come along?
How will they handle food and water? Rationing is a good start, but there's only so much of it and not a whole lot of meat to go around. Water can be accessed through the sinks and showers, but what if water were to run out, and they had to wait for the tank to refill?
And of course, how will they get back home? Will they figure out how to get the boat engine going without gas? Will they find gas on the boat and figure out how to get it into the engine? Do they want to go back home? Or live their lives as pirate dogs?
Thank you! Is there a rule on what kind of dog can be the alpha? Or can a tiny dog be the alpha because I am REALLY inclined to make the alpha a toy poodle or something.
