You're fine and not anymore Had to put my dog down a few years ago. To be honest we probably should have put her down before we did but we didn't realize just how bad she was. By the time we finally discovered just how bad her condition was she was blind, deaf, toothless, had arthritis so bad that she couldn't get up without help and couldn't take more than a couple steps before she fell, she'd stopped eating and she was struggling to control her insides (as in couldn't keep anything down and was pooping on the floor) The night before we put her down she spent the whole night howling. I don't know if she was in pain, saying goodbye, or trying to comfort me. I sat up with her for hours before I was forced to go to bed and made mom sit with her because I didn't want her to be alone. Our other dog spent months looking for her when she didn't come home and developed separation anxiety, hating to be alone for any period of time. Then year before last we had to put down our other dog. She stopped eating and after 4 days we took her to the vet right after I got off work. Sudden kidney failure, so bad it was literally too high for the test to register. We let her go right then. She was thin, dehydrated, could hardly move, wouldn't eat or drink, her eyes looked so sad and pained. I couldn't make her suffer because I didn't want to let go. I STILL cry thinking of them.
