Recently, I came across a wonderful cub at an amazing price. She has a nice look and decent stats for where I'm at in relation to how long I've been here, so it seemed like a wonderful deal until I took a look at her heritage...

It was 8 times inbred.

I've persued clean lions because I simply despise the idea of incest... as just about any person does. But I've found that keeping lions clean and pretty/strong is a real pain, in just a couple months of playing.

And something else that confuses me is that inbreeding has no downside. I understand that Lioden is just a game full of magic and wonder, but breeding isn't magic. So the side effects of something that's real, should also be real. Inbreeding in real life causes real issues.

I believe that inbreeding should have some negative impact, but not to the extent of deadly mutations. We're not heartless like real nature is. I believe small changes like increased cub mortality, lower fertility, and less genetic variation should be consequences of inbreeding. If you have quarrels against this, do keep in mind that there are items that can fix all of these issues, and maybe more could be added as well.

And so to help remedy the issue of inbreeding, some sort of new item is required to help: A heritage eraser!
Something to keep a lion as-is but remove the heritage, that being all information on who their parents and previous relatives were. That way, inbreeding would be less common because lion family trees will be less twisted and complicated. It would be a high-class, expensive item, like black stallions and GMO cows, as its impact would be quite substantial. But, to erase the history of a lion would help thousands of players that want to have a clean pride. It could even help with the Genghis Khan like effect that the Big Four have upon many lions!

Helping clean up the inbreeding problem is something important to thousands here. To penalize inbreeding with small negative effects would make the game feel more immersive. And to add a way for lions to be cleaned of their genetic history would be a wonderful addition to Lioden.
