Idk, as a Jewish person it'd be nice to see some decor in the mantis shop that represented it as well as all of the Christmas related decor. Some ideas I had were a dreidel [little toy you spin around], a lit or unlit menorah, gelt [a chocolate coin], maybe a Star of David scarf or hat, etc. Since we have so much representation on Lioden already, why not a little more? |

I see no need for it. Christmas has transcended the religion it originated from and is currently celebrated all over the world, even in places where Christians are a very small minority such as Asia or Africa (be it because of colonialism or what have you, it doesn't matter anyway). People from all over the world, with all kinds of backgrounds come together to celebrate Christmas because it's ties to Christianity have been weakened over the many years it's been celebrated. Hanukkah isn't that! It's a uniquely Jewish holiday. Here's an interesting excerpt I found in an article on the subject concerning celebration of the holiday by non-Jews (Christians to be specific): "I will be the first to admit that Chanukkah is a Jewish holiday. And for those who don’t understand the significance of Chanukkah, it may well be inappropriate to join in the festivities. Celebrating Chanukkah without reference to the uniquely Jewish nature of the holiday, or without being in tune with its major themes of rededication and holiness, is just taking advantage of an opportunity to throw a party and eat a lot of fried food." So in short, Hanukkah is inherently tied to Judaism. While non-Jews can celebrate it, doing so without the context of the religion is just plain inappropriate. So going back to the decor discussion with that in mind, why implement a decor with such strong religious ties into a pet breeding game (about lion incest no less)? More so, why implement it if only a minority of players could use it? It could also be a slippery slope. What about other religions? Why wouldn't staff add decor connected to Islam, Hinduism, Taoism and so on? I think the answer to all these questions is pretty simple: it's inappropriate and disrespectful. Please let's not forget that this is a web game about breeding lions!!!! Adding real life religions into the mix would be overstepping a boundary in my opinion. You as a Jewish person might like it if this was implemented but I cannot imagine other people feeling the same. 0 players like this post! Like?
