Yeah, but still can a cat have two mutations at once? an albino cat with giantism would be cute I'd name it Pearlheart (If cats can have to muts at once I'd love to try and get that combo) 0 players like this post! Like? |

@stinky - good lord didn't even notice that. Yeah it's 3 weeks x'DDDDD @ilikeseals - Ack sorry, I researched my answer and I thought I answered but clearly I didn't, so sorry about that! The answer is Yes! But kind of. Certain mutations yes, while others would cancel each other out. So: You could have an albino bobtail, an albino giant, ect. You could not have an albino melanistic cat (obviously) and you couldn't have a wirehair breed (such as Cornish rex) also be hairless like a sphinx (which reminds me I need to add sphinx genes to the thing...). And then you can't have a munchkin with giantism. Mainly, the ones that directly oppose each other (solid white vs solid black) cannot appear in the same cat. And yet you could have a hairless albino, it just wouldn't be visible on the cat, cause obviously the cat is...well...essentially naked let's be real. That's just where all the genetics come into play, which means that cat would be carrying both hairless and albino, and their children would have a chance to be either/or or even both like their parent So, yes, with certain common sense exceptions :) 0 players like this post! K, And do purebreds that have like curled ears or are hairless because of their breed count as muties or not? And are all mutations passable or are some not? 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 02/12/21 @ 15:27:49 by Ilikeseals ~Leave poop please~ (#238961) |

I haven’t read through this thread in awhile! Winning the raffle cat was a pleasant surprise :) I’ll be sure to develop his character in my next post on the game thread! Edit: Also a general announcement, Gemclan and Astroclan are now allies! There’s also a possibility of a romance later in the roleplay between my curly bean and their curly bean! 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 03/12/21 @ 14:26:39 by PiscestheFish (#65128) |

@seal - Those do count as mutations, as it's a part of the genetic code that doesn't appear in a normal string. So color points/Siamese, rex breeds, etc it is because of their breed that they have it, however it is also considered a mutation ;) All mutations are genetically passable, whether its dominant or recessive helps determine if it will appear in the kit though @Deer - So looking at Wetpaw, I realized I accidentally gave you the wrong genetic code for her, she's a moggy brown and white, but her dominant breed is devon rex, so instead of having the ll for her fur length, it needs to be Rr But that is a "mutation", because it's not the standard LL/Ll/ll, so she does count ^^ You got her on the 16th of November, the same day Gemclan was founded :D 0 players like this post! I have the first event cat that's a mutie and have a plan with Pisces cuz they have an event cat tom with curly fur to breed them one day, Now I'm sent on breeding the first mutie and first double mutie and first bred double mutie getting 3 goals in 1 (I have a to-do list for this) 0 players like this post! Good point I guess, hopefully we get some wiry-coated kits from her at some point though! I still plan to add a couple more cats before I start breeding. 0 players like this post! Like? |
