So! We already had a nice big eye expansion, including layer separation and Breed Unique eyes. LD has an incredible array of eye colors, both app and BO, but they're really rather... strange when it comes to breeding! Eye GeneticsI'm going to propose an entirely new eye-color breeding expansion/overhaul! This will sort eyes into specific genetic groups, and explain how breeding for them would work. It also opens up a whole new avenue of Breed Unique eyes and genetic combos - so here we go! Keep in mind: this is going to largely IGNORE eye origin, excepting group rarity! ALSO! I am going to treat Contact eye colors as BREEDABLE with this overhaul! There is literally no reason they should not be passable in this more modern LD. Genetic GroupsI would like to propose the following grouping: WARM | MEDIUM | COOL | MONO → SHADED | FLAT → SPECIAL | RARE | COMMON Warm would be eyes in warmer color groups such as reds, oranges, and yellows. Medium would be eyes in middling color groups, such as browns, tans, and creams. Cool would be eyes in cooler color groups, such as blues, greens, and purples. Mono would be eyes in monochromatic color groups, such as whites, silvers, and blacks. Shaded eyes would be those utilizing more than one color, in a gradient or gradual pattern; flat would have no discernable gradient or shading, even if it has more than one solid color! Special rarity eyes would be event, BO/BU, NCL exclusive, and combo eyes; rare would be non-oasis applicator eyes; and common would be normal NCL and oasis eyes. Special rarity would, of course, be more difficult to pass; however! Breeding special eyes to other eyes in their color grouping as well as to eyes with higher rarity will increase that chance exponentially! This is also largely ignoring eye rocks, which would override all of this. :D I suggest eye genetics be displayed in this format: Eye Color: Maroon Eye Genetics: Warm Shaded Special Passing/FailsSo how I imagine these to work is they would largely have the same basic fails - but the pass rates would largely depend on genetic groupings. Special x special would have a higher degree of passing a special or resulting in a special fail, where other groupings - such as special x rare, rare x rare, rare x common, etc etc would have lower and lower pass rates for higher-rarity eyes. Breeding in one's color group would also give a boost! For example, breeding maroon to another maroon would have a far greater pass rate than breeding maroon to grape. Likewise, breeding maroon to garnet would have a higher chance of producing the higher tier than breeding maroon to tanzanite. GroupingsHere I'll chop up and group up all of LD's eye colors! I feel like all the breed only eyes should be rare, and all the applicator eyes should be special. Just so it matches the base genetics more. ![]() |
