Heya! So I like to study wildlife, domesticated and farm animals on my spare time to help me out when I draw! I came across this mutation when studying on some differing patterns of fur.

This is called Glass-Eyed Albinos, it was discovered in 1994 through cows! Since it’s a newer study, it could be possible lions may have gotten this in the wild and we never knew

Example through Cows:




“ Glass-Eyed Albino (a–d) animals trace back to a mutant heifer born in 1994. Clinical features include white coat color (a), deafness, and “glass-eyes” (b). Partial phenotypic reversion consisting in heterochromia irides (c) or black spots on the ears (d) are sometimes observed”

Since Achromia lions are just so common in game, what if a possibility of this happened? Perhaps like Deaf lions, their life-span could be considered shorter? And since mutations can’t stack, glassy looks generally mean hard of seeing, so perhaps their vision isn’t full on gone, but partial, just like when humans before some of us need glasses, you get that blurry look (Where my glasses players at?)

‘An Achromia…but what are those black spots? Uh-oh! It seems you’ve birthed a “Glass-Eyed” Achromia! This little one will have trouble seeing in the future”
