First try at the lore behind the Great Ones (i.e. the current Gods and Goddesses in my lore)

[WIP plot likely to be a bit rocky]

In the beginning, the world was was a land full of shadow and mystery. The world was hot, too hot, for anything but magma and fire to reign over this large expanse of land. Once, during this endless night, a spark caught light on the earth of its own accord. It flamed into light and from the blaze emerged a brightly coloured beast, covered in ash of his own making. As the beast looked around, he shook off the ash, which settled on the ground and seemed to mould into another beast. This seemed to be a strangely coloured version of a creature similar to the first.

As the first beast turned, it cried out in surprise. And from this cry formed another startled creature, a much lighter version this time. In his great shock at being created he ran straight into the second creature who went tumbling to the ground. It shed a single drop of liquid onto the ground, which grew and grew, to a puddle, a lake, a sea. A wild shape seemed to thrash under the surface and once the edge broke, a fourth and final beast emerged with a scowl that could kill the other three in an instant. Her coat was blues, greys and blacks broken up by startling white.

"I," it snarled, "am Bunzi. Who might you sorry pack of peasants be whom dare bring me to life?" The fearsome fiery looking beast bristled at Bunzi's attitude.

"I, am Nusku, creator of all you buffoons, so I would watch your tone, Bunzi." Nusku glared at Bunzi before the silver and grey beast began to speak.

"I believe my name to be... Enlil, correct me if I may be wrong. I appear to be a ruler of the air, sky, winds and so forth. I presume we have all been given each a kingdom to rule over. Nusku I presume you to be fire, Bunzi waters, and you over there the earth on which we stand." Enlil spoke. The supposed earth ruler smiled kindly.

"Why yes Enlil you are correct, it is nice to see you again in this life time may I say. I am Geb this time round." Geb paused and looked to Bunzi. "I do think Bunzi here is new to this business. I believe them to have been a mortal in their last life."

"Past life what are you talking about?" Bunzi snapped. Nusku rolled their eyes.

"We are reborn until we please Karma enough that we are given eternal rest. I have had one other life, Enlil two making this his third. I seem to recall briefly meeting you." Nusku explained, staring coldly as Bunzi.

"Quite right Nusku however, I believe Enlil is a bit older than you give him credit for." Geb said, a smile seemed to dance in their eyes as they gazed fondly at Enlil. "I am on my tenth lifetime, as is Enlil. I take you had hoped the last time would be the final?" they asked. Enlil sighed and nodded.

"No matter, it would have been quite boring had you not been around. An interesting choice this time. Lion bodies. Dare I say I quite liked being a human last time around. Oh London in the height of the Victorian era!" Geb gushed.

"I do say I much preferred us as Anthony and Cleopatra back in the day but if you insist dearest." Enlil replied with a smile. As this exchange had been going on, Bunzi had been quietly looking at Geb, doing her best not to seem too obvious. Bunzi was entranced by Geb, watching how the other lionesses seemed to light up as she and Enlil recounted some past lives they seemed to have spent together. Bunzi glanced around to see if Nusku had noticed, but upon finding the lion, saw that he too seemed to be staring at the pair. Seeming to notice eyes on him, he quickly snapped his head around to face Bunzi with a glare.

"Didn't anyone ever tell you staring is rude little Bunzi?" he asked in a sickeningly patronising tone. A growl erupted from Bunzi's throat as she stalked towards him.

"I am NOT little, and that's rich talk coming from a male who cannot even-" she spat before Nusku roared so loud Bunzi swore the ground shook. He charged at Bunzi before stopping just short. Bunzi could feel his agitated breath on her face.

"I DARE you to finish that sentence." He hissed harshly. "You are one to talk, you half finished freak." Bunzi was already lashing out to strike him. Nusku felt a stinging pain. Dark blood began to drip from the wound onto the ground.

"You, appear to be a *filthy* half breed. I seem to remember that was what we pure breeds referred to your kind" Was all Bunzi spat before she stormed off, quite literally with dark storm clouds thundering overhead. Geb shook her head.

"So she has never had a life as a human. She must have been a lion during her last life too." Geb remarked, watching the furious lioness stalk away. "Though I do wonder what happened in her last life to make her so bitter." Enlil narrowed his eyes as he followed where the lionesses stomped along the beast, sea waves crashing wildly against the sands which had already formed.

"Whatever she was, it must have been an important or terribly tragic life for her to have gained such a prestigious position in only her second life." Nusku looked curiously at Geb. "What ever do you mean Geb?" Geb sighed.

"Settle down Nusku, you too Enlil you may as well be entertained. We're in for a long night."
