I love doing Nuzlockes, and am using my side account to try out a Liolocke, as inspired by Lynx's (#Liolocke2023) ruleset. There are a couple edits, as this is a brand new side account, and to suit my playstyle. Might edit further if I think a rule would make the game more fun/hard/exciting.

PLEASE NO POSTING ON THIS THREAD. For right now, PM me if you want to chat about my Liolocke. You aren't bothering me, and I'd love to talk about the challenge! I might open up a separate thread for chatting if this gains enough traction.

Rules:

1. I start the Liolocke with nothing. No currency, no items, no lions.

2. I treat my territory as though it is unexpanded and must be ‘manually’ expanded. I begin the Liolocke with 0 submale slots and a territory size of 2.

3. I do not purchase anything from other players. This includes raffles, items, and lions.
3a. Gold Beetles are the one exception to this. Without purchasing them off other players the only way to obtain them is with real cash and I am not looking to invest real money into this challenge.

4. Every day, you only get to claim ONE NCL. This includes groupies during May. Just one each day. Once you start the claiming process, this is your encounter.
4a. Upon entering a new zone for the first time, I may attempt to claim the first lioness I encounter. I may not attempt to claim another lioness in the same zone, regardless of outcome.
4b. Every 5 levels your king grows, you get to claim one NCL.

5. All hunts will be handled realistically and as if their results are final.
5a. Lionesses have 3 chances in their lifetime. If they fail to hunt three times, they will get chased. If 1+ lionesses complete a hunting quest, they will get an extra chance. Each lioness may only have a maximum of 5 chances at a time.
Neck Scars — Rolling 0 - 50 results in instantaneous death; roll 51 - 100 to survive.
Torn fur, blinded eyes — Rolling 0 - 40 results in infection, and a chance at death. Rolling 41 - 100 ensures survival.
Face, Side, Cheek, Muzzle, Beaten Up, Nose Scratch, Long/Short scars on Right/Left Eye — Rolling 0 - 20 results in infection, and a chance at death. Rolling 31 - 100 ensures survival.
Hip, Shoulder, Nose Ridge, Back Scratch, Belly Scratch, Front/Hind Leg Right/Left scars — Rolling 0 - 10 results in infection, and a chance at death. Rolling 11 - 100 ensures survival.
5b. Lions who get infected but survive will be forced to rest until the next rollover.
5c. Once a lion/lioness has an infection I will be rolling 0-49 they die from infection 50-100 they survive.
5d. The dead lioness may be killed, chased off, sent to the reserve, or gifted. She may not be sold.
5e. If it is a hunting party that fails, one lioness is chosen at random to have -1 chance.
5f. If a lioness is blinded by her scars (eye scars), she will be banned from hunting.

6. If my king is defeated in explore 3 times in a rollover, a submale protects him and takes the killing blow, and must thus leave the pride.
6a. The dead submale may be killed, chased off, sent to the reserve, or gifted. He may not be sold.
6b. If my king is defeated and has no available submales, he dies in the encounter, the pride disbands without an heir to take the throne, and the game is over.
6c. Fleeing is allowed.

7. I cannot spar with other lions.

8. The survival of my cub is determined at birth. I will roll a die for the following factors:
- Normal, everyday cub with a normal, everyday mother— Rolling 0 - 50 results in death. Rolling 51 - 100 ensures survival.
- Nurturing / Focused mother — Rolling 0 - 40 results in death. Rolling 41 - 100 ensures survival.
- Brutal / Sinister mother — Rolling 0 - 60 results in death. Rolling 61 - 100 ensures survival.
8a. The dead cub may be killed, chased off, sent to the reserve, or gifted. They may not be sold.

9. I can train my cubs.
9a. I can train my adolescents as well.

10. I can sell items and living lions.

11. I cannot accept donations or gifts.
11a. If the gift is part of a site event, such as in December, I can accept it.

12. I can participate in site events.

13. I cannot participate in Beetle Battles.

14. I can do quests for the Gorilla Enclave, but I must have the cubs myself.
14a. I can only accept energy bonuses from the Gorilla Enclave if a quest is completed.

15. I cannot take items from the Giving Tree.

16. I cannot play in the Games section for rewards.

I'll play around with additional rules around injuries, sickness, et cetera as the challenge goes on.

What are my goals for this?

I'm not sure, honestly. I've never been much for breeding projects. I think I'm just gonna try and have some fun and provide updates every time I rollover. I'd like to have lore for these lions, so hopefully this will be a fun challenge to watch! I'll open up a suggestions/commentary thread if anyone has any goal suggestions or just wants to chat about the challenge.

Right now, my goal is to develop lore around my pride. It shall develop as I go, and will be character driven.

Sorry for the lack of coding! I'm rather busy, and honestly shouldn't be starting a challenge in the middle of finals anyways, but we all need something to destress.
