In the Explore menu, go to the Level 1 Zone, you will be a bit stronger than them, the Deity you have chosen should periodically help you in battles too :)

I use charge-> rest-> charge-> grab-> pound until one of you dies. I don't win all the battles, but probably four out of five. I don't know which path you took, but I also find Anubis is the least helpful of the deities. I'm using Seth until the 19th.

Seth or Bast are the best ones, Anubis won’t even always hit during a battle. I just press random attacks and hope that my main male hits though XD

Pounce - grab (if pounce didn't work) - strangle
If not grappled, I use bite hoping to grapple the target

I will usually do grab-kick-claw-pound, in a watch the minions health bar, each move takes a larger or smaller amount of health from the minion depending on the type of minion. I've been able to complete both of my quests for killing 10 minions rather quickly this way. Hope this helps. Oh and I am a follower of Anubis, so not sure if that helps or not.

Slithering minions are these monstrous snakes that appear during June event while you explore. Usually you just kill them to complete quests that your god (either Anubis, Bast, or Seth) give you. You can find them anywhere
