Hello! I haven't seen any topics for those who need help with their beetles so I decided to make my own! I am a beetle farmer of 150+ strong so I know quite a bit about raising beetles. If you're looking into being a beetle farmer yourself, just know that it takes a lot of hard work and patience. Anyways, lets get to it!

1.0 Beetle Batting

1.1 So, beetle battling can be found on the Crossroads page between Games and the Scrying Stone. Here is where you can select your beetles to fight against other beetles for a chance at gaining herbs, EXP for your beetle, a small about of SB, and even 7 extra slots for storing more beetles! However, you cannot gain more than 7 slots from beetle battling.

1.2 You may battle your beetle every 15 minutes for a prize. If, however, you cannot find your beetle in the selection option then either your "allow battling" option on your beetles page is turned off or your beetle is in fact, female and therefore cannot battle.

1.3 If you want to make your beetle stronger, you have two options: battle them regularly so they gain EXP or scroll up from your beetle battle page and click "Beetle Training Grounds". Here you can bring your adult beetles daily to try and improve their stats. You are not guaranteed a beetle stat because just like your cubs at the training grounds they can fail and therefore not get any benefits that would have been given previously if they had succeeded Each beetle can be trained once per day. The second option will be the faster but expensive route to raising their stats. It is also important to know that you cannot train your larvae.

2.0 Beetle Breeding

2.1 Beetle breeding is a lot more complex than anything else I'll be covering here in this thread so bare with me here. In order to breed beetles, you MUST have 1 male and 1 female of the same species (not color) and both must be at least 11 days old. In order to breed beetles, you must go to your female beetles page. If you scroll down on your female beetle's page you will see the option to breed her to a male. If you do not see this option, then she is either under the age of 11, not female, on a breeding cooldown, or not the same species as the male you are trying to breed her to.

2.2 After you have successfully bred your beetle she will be pregnant! On your next rollover she will have a clutch of eggs ready to be hatched. If you do not hatch the clutch on the same day she is ready to give birth, all her eggs will die and you will not be able to hatch any larvae. Females will lay several eggs but you will only be able to keep 1-4 larvae from the clutch. How many larvae you get can be influenced by how many beetle slots you have open. For example: If you have 20/21 beetle slots open and you decide to hatch a clutch, you will only be granted one larvae because that is all you have room for. So, make sure you have room for more beetles before you hatch your clutches. You can expand your beetle slots by going to your lions profile and clicking the + button. It will cost you 1GB to expand your slot by 1.



2.3 After you have hatched her clutch, all her larvae will go into your unsorted mound where you can assign them to whatever mound you'd like. After that, your female beetle will be on a breeding cooldown for 10 days. Both male and female beetles will live 30 days and die on their 31st day. Once a beetle dies, that beetle frees up 1 space for your beetle slots. This means that if you breed your female on the exact day she comes into heat, she will be able to breed twice in her lifetime.

2.4 Your Larvae will get hungry every 3 days and gain 20% hunger each day. Your last day to feed them will be when they reach 60% hunger. After that, the next day you rollover they will die of starvation. Don't worry though! You can buy herbs for 20SB at the Beetle Training Grounds OR you can fight your males and gain herbs for free that way. Once larvae reaches 11 days old they will become adults and will no longer need you to feed them.

2.5 Now, here is where I will teach you how to breed a specific color. The quickest way to pass down the color you want is by having 2 opposite sex beetles of the same species who share the same color and breed them together. There is a chance that they will hatch larvae that is NOT the same color as both its parents but it's the best way to pass down the color regardless. What you CANNOT do for example is breed a yellow male to a blue female and expect to get a green beetle. The most likely outcome is that you will get a beetle that has either of the parents color, but you will not get a mixture of both.

2.6 If you would like to breed your beetle in a way which you gain as many stats as possible then you should train/fight your beetles frequently and when the females come into heat, breed them to the highest stated male to produce a high stated larvae. You cannot sell female beetles heats or use your male beetles as studs like you would with lions. Also, just like with lions, if you inbreed your beetles, this will have no in-game effects. In fact, your beetles heritage will not even tell you inbreeding has occurred even though you may clearly see it in their line of heritage.

3.0 Beetle Mounds

3.1 When you first sign up to Lioden, you will be provided with one mound. You can fit as many beetles into a mound as you'd like. The mounds just allow you to be more organized with your beetles. If you would like to create more mounds, scroll down to your mounds and you should see a black and white mound which says "+ Create Mound". Once you click on it you will be shown..


You will be given around 51 free beetle mounds but in order to create your mound you will need 5 underbrush and 50 SB.

4.0 Beetle Page

4.1 Here is your average beetle page. On the top you can see a tool bar which takes you to various locations regarding your beetles. The two green beetles on either side of the page act as arrows, click them and you will be taken to another one of your beetles. If either beetles turn gray, then you've reached the end or the beginning of your beetle lineup. To the left side of the screen you can see your beetle and the name you've given it. To your right you can see a list of information about your beetle which Include:

- Your beetles species
- The owner of the beetle
- The sex of the beetle
- The color and the rarity of the beetles color
- The age of your beetle
- Whether or not your beetle was trained today
- 3 rows containing your beetles stats
- Your beetles fighting success rate (will not show if beetle is female or larvae)
- The amount of EXP your beetle has before it can level up and gain +1 stat.
- A link containing your beetles heritage
- A biography for your beetle which can be edited by you



4.2 Scrolling down a bit further we will reach the behind-the-scenes portion which can only be seen by the owner of the beetle (except for the biography). At the top we can see the area where we can change our beetles names, what mound they live in, whether or not they are secured, and where we can edit their biography. If you have a male, they will be given an extra option: Allow Beetle Battling. Which you can turn off for whatever reason you want (default is set to on). DO NOT make changes to your beetles information without pressing update, otherwise nothing you've done previously will save. Below all this we can see our options for getting rid of beetles we do not like. We can do 4 things:

1. Release the beetle into the wild (someone else may capture or eat it during explore)
2. Eat the beetle (killing it and getting bad karma in return)
3. Giving it to Kittengarten (killing it and getting good karma in return)
4. Adding it to our beetle collection (only available if you do not secure your beetle and haven't sent a beetle of the same color and species to your collection previously)

5.0 Beetle Book

5.1 You may have noticed that in your toolbar you have the option to see your Beetle Book. If you click on it you will find a list of over 387 Beetles! You can also see all the beetles you've collected and the beetles you're missing, along with a search bar for finding specific beetles so you don't have to scroll all the way down to find the beetle you want. Collecting beetles and storing them in your book can result in you getting badges for doing various things with your beetle book, how fun! The best way to find beetles to store in your book is to go to the mounds in explore and try and grab a beetle larvae for yourself OR going to the trading center to search for specific beetles there.

6.0 Beetle Symbols

7.0 Beetle Crafting

7.1 One of the many reasons why people farm beetles in the first place is so they can craft jewelry out of them! You can access these crafting recipes through the Monkey Business and searching "beetle". With beetle skins you will be able to craft chiting sets, claw extensions, decor, and even applicators for your lions! But hey, if you aren't into that sort of stuff, you can always use beetle skins as toys for your lions.

7.2 Basically, it works like this: Your beetle reaches 31, dies of old age and you are given their dead skin. You can bury these skins and save them for later or if you're ready, you can craft them into cool stuff! Fun Fact: YOU CANT CHEAT THE SYSTEM. What do I mean by this? Well, you can't kill your beetle once it becomes an adult to get its sweet sweet skin. It MUST die of old age, otherwise you will not get its skin, sadly.

8.0 Extra Beetle Information

8.1 I did not address the other two options on your tool bar because I already talked about "beetle Battling" and "Battle Beetles" is just basically a hub for the other beetle areas along with links to all your mounds.

8.2 Not sure if I mentioned this already, but you can find beetles in explore when you come across a mound. You can choose to eat the beetle or collect it. You are not guaranteed a beetle if you choose to collect it, as beetle larvae are SLIPPERY. Whether or not you obtain a beetle through this method is also affected by whether or not you have a beetle slot open. And of course, you can also choose to eat the beetle if you're feelin' hungry ;)

8.3 There are also beetle items you can purchase at the Monkey Business which include:

Beetle Skin Maker - Allows you to create your own beetle skin
Aging Pebble - Ages your larvae to 10 days old
Beetle Sex Changer - Changes the sex of your beetle
