Lynox live in community groups called herds. These herds are usually lead by the oldest or strongest male, who protect all the members of his herd. Sometimes you will find female-lead herds, although it's not so common. Lynox prefer to live in herds because they are less likely to be attacked by cougars, bears, and other predators.
Lynox are omnivores. Most of their diet consists of leaves, bark, shrubs, and aquatic vegetation. However, Lynox will hunt small prey or fish on occasion - especially expecting or nursing mothers. We're not sure why gestation brings out the carnivorous side, but more often then not, if a Lynox is regularly hunting, she is expecting or lactating. Some Lynox have more of a taste for prey then others, so exact diets vary between individuals.
Lynox must have access to brackish waters. Without enough salinity, they will fail to thrive. Drinking only freshwater or saltwater for extended amounts of time can cause a Lynox to become sick and even die. This means all Lynox live near coasts, bays, or sounds. Coastal forests are the most common home, as they bring plenty of food and shelter. Lynox herds will often travel from place to place, following the brackish water they live off of as well as new plant growth.
Most Lynox pregnancies result in one fawn. Twin pregnancies are less common, and triplet pregnancies are almost unheard of.
Female Lynox have longer whiskers and leaner builds then male Lynox. The most distinguishing feature of a male Lynox are his larger size and antlers. As a generalization, females tend to be more social and more likely to closely bond with other Lynox, while males tend to be more stoic and private.
