RNG is so hard.

To address the last question, potatoes are still possible even with the most gorgeous high marked lions around.

To reduce your chances of having a completely potato cub, even if RNG pops out that one-mark cub from your 10-mark stud, i'd say your best bet is to try to focus on breeding :
- Lions whose markings all can make a cub Gorgeous to you, stand-alone- rather than lions that need All or at least 2 of their markings to look good. Get those gorgeous multi-mark combos too, of course, but if you know 1 mark only looks right when paired with another either boost your chances by making sure every lion has it (& know sometimes it still won't pass) or be prepared for the occasional tater.
Building up to a beautiful look is key to making some of the most stunning lions, but it's nice when all of the markings you collect make a lion stunning to you. :3 That way you're hedging your bets against bad RNG!
-- Unless you're breeding for a specific Looks project & need to load up on ladies with the same marks, keep a Variety of pretty marks in your pride if you can. If you start seeing the same thing all the time it can lose its "pretty" impact (in my opinion) But you don't need a whole new pride every time (changing a King or Stud can work too!). So either find a variety you love, or bring in new genetics/impactful markings from time to time!
Things like eyes, skin, & simple highlight markings like Under White 4 (or whatever breed-only equivalent is popular now) can really change a lion's look & make her super pretty- so even little changes can really change the look of your potatoest cub.
(Which reminds me, check out eye fail colors too. )

If you love all your marks (even if they're the ONLY mark that RNG allows to pass on!), it might be worthwhile to think about:
- A genetic group where you like all (if not most) of the possible bases (Common, Uncommon, Rare, Special) - this prevents your pretty mark from being slapped on a potato base & you suddenly thinking ew.
Play around in Wardrobe & check out the Genetics Wiki to find groups you love.

No, really, please do enjoy - whether you choose to hedge your bets (by playing around with different combos in advance & accidentally making a looks project ) or trial & error (breed alllll the pretty girls! * ) your way to finding the marks you love, or some combo of both!

There's really no wrong way to approach, do, or think about it, we're all at the mercy of RNG & changing strategy- or just admiring the lions you already have- *#! for a little while can be super fun too.




* Breeding method warning: oh shoot, now you have 200 Territory with multiple looks & a long Dynasty because you love them all
