Anyone who’s participated in the August event probably gets fed up with having so many water items laying around. Same as with Christmas gifting when many people just give out junk. Which is why I propose a new craftable: herbal balm.

The lore behind herbal balm would be simple: it is made by mashing together loads of water-giving herbs into a balm. This balm is applied to your lion’s tired paws after exploring.

Herbal balm would be an energy or stat item giving 10 stats or an automatic level up (80% / 20% chance respectively) but it requires a lot of herbs to make - so it would be pretty valuable. Perhaps:

X50 African cucumbers
X50 aloe leaf
X50 stripped cacti
X20 water root

The trade off here is that, in line with the lore (sore paws), you can only use one herbal balm for every 1000 explore steps, to stop it being overused.

Thoughts?

Comments
20% chance of a level up would be OP for max starters. Either remove the level up feature (which would devalue the item, considering it would be very hard to craft) OR lower the boost chance to 2% to account for max statters.

Maybe it could be crafted by any mix of herbs as long as theres 50 of each and a total of 200? Im not sure if they would bother making that possible but like
Or nerf the amount of explore steps and make it give the same amount (or slightly more) xp that giant turtle gives

That could be possible, although my main thought was giving water items a use as herbs have quite a few crafting options already.

On the one hand, I'm raising a stat king, and this could be nice.
On the other, I do NOT like that auto-level up.

On the third hand I have mysteriously grown, I just finished posting a suggestion about how I think we need to start using lesser used crafting materials.

Maybe if it used other herbs, and didn't do the level up thing.

For clarification, the reason I'm against an automatic level up is because it gives LVL x 2 in stats. For a lion that's at Level 35, that's 70 stats. A prolific explorer, slams energy snacks and roasted lambs, they could use these bad boys probably every other day and their gains would be absolutely BONKERS.

I think it could just be fine to limiting it to once per rollover and let the stat amount be randomized between 1 and 10. That way it'd maintain value, since it can be used independently of food items and amusement items, but it's also not a guaranteed item that can easily churned through.

@Yhaman That’s fair enough! My reasoning for having a low chance of a level up was to make it more valuable, as just a random chance of between 1 and 10 stats wouldn’t make it worth much more than a few dove feasts (eg. 5gb value) which would only make the components worth about 20sb each.

But on that score I recognise what you say and for a mad statter like Indra, it would be OP as they’d be able to use 200 and get around 40 level ups from that. So I’d perhaps be more inclined to lower the chance of a level up to maybe 2/3% - still a potential bonus but not OP for mad statters.

Could also just have it give a chance of % total exp.
Lemme tell you, when you start pushing up into the mid 30s, if i had an item that might occasionally grant me 10% of total exp, that is a shit ton. that is like a holy fuck amount. and that 10% still is useful for lower stat lions.

unlike games where enemies level pretty consistantly with you as you progress, LD enemies have pitiful stat returns in the watering hole compared to what it takes to level

@Yharnam Yeah, as someone who got into the level 40s on her last king (on my side), I know what you mean. Still, the item still has limited uses, so there are only so many that can be used, and they'd likely be around 20gb each with the 20% chance I reckon, so 100gb per level up. But as you say, past the level 50 ish mark, they could start to get OP, even if they were hard to make and hard to obtain.
