So, We all play this game differently! Some aim for purdy colorful and cool marked lions, other want to take stats as high as the stars, others do a combo. Some even sprinkle on some cool mutations to the mix. Im still "sort of new" to this. Sure I played some years ago (signed up when Lioden was more or less a cub bordering on a adolecent ;) ) and back then there wasnt as many cool bases and marking as it is now. As far as I recall Maroon and Firey was the hot stuff then. Now when Im back again (*waves*) I try to do a combo of looks that I like and stats - within the limit that I can afford - and try to breed upwards. Anyways, to my question - that Im aware of that might differ depending what group of the above one belong to. When do you chase a cub - and when do you keep it - either for yourself or to sell. The first is simple enough - if it has something that you are after either in looks or stats its a keeper. But if it dont quite make the cut for your personal use. When is it no use to keep until the age when you can sell it? Markingless, or just one marking? Lower stat than both parents? "Muddy marked" (ie when the markings is very muddled together and dont look pretty) Boring base As silly as its sound I have a hard time chasing lions that I dont have use for (or sending them to the reserve). This especially goes for higher stat cubs (900+). In my eyes they might not look pretty NOW but could be used as "base" and be spruced up with the help of apps and have a good start with their stats. This especially if they have a clean (I see them as clean if the first page dont indicate something else) linage. So how are you are think on if you should chase or not? What led this on was that I got a Dove Gray male cub today, 975 in stats, just one mark (Fiery Undershine) and storm eyes. Base and just one marking point to not keep, while stat and cool eyecolor do. Even if I dont want to keep, what if a new player want to have him? But til then he will cost me food (eventually), will I get that back pricewise? Many oddish questions and thoughts perhaps but it would be nice to hear what you all think. Are these just foddercubs, no buts about it? No matter if they have high stats or not? And when it come to fodder cubs, what is the normal range (price)? What make a foddercub more expensive than the other? 1 player likes this post! Like? |

Personally I let my lil guys age to about 1y 11m and send them to the tree usually, while I let my gals age to 2y and then chase them. I have 2 reasons, the primary one being that I don't check every cub I produce to see if they have an adult mutation, and I've had random ones pop up before. The second reason is that I'm a big fan of chased lionesses with no heritage. I like giving other players chances to get pretty lions (not that all of them are ofc!) I'm not really a stat breeder, and I only care about high stats if the lion has a short heritage because that massively affects resale value. I will say, though you can consider "clean on the first page" to be clean, the vast majority of the playerbase won't, and selling any of those cubs while referring to them as clean would unfortunately be dishonest ^^; I'd probably assess a plain cub like that to be fodder. Higher stats amongst *technically* unclean lions is pretty common nowadays, and he doesn't have much of anything else to make him special. Fodder prices can be 5 anywhere from 5-100 SB (though the higher end is the "gorilla enclave compatible" hard to find attributes. 25-50 is average, but 20 and below will give you a quicker sale. I'm too lazy to sell for those prices so that's why I just send my males to the tree. 1 player likes this post! Like? |

I personally find it lions below 1 GB value generally arent worth it to sell. They're a hassle to keep/protect/care about, take time and work to advertise and even with everything put into them the chance they will sell is still low. As a rule of thumb, I go by the "it stays if its too good to chase" rule. So if you look at the cub and gasp "oh my, what lovely cub, cant afford to chase that special one!" then its worth keeping. If you doubt and consider if its worth keeping, then its not worth keeping. 1 player likes this post! Like? Edited on 08/02/23 @ 05:29:47 by Mad Hyena (#29080) |

Thank you both for your replies Bandit Gambit - when I sell them I never advertise them as 'clean' (in title and the like) tho as I know the term vary for people. I have it written out on my page what I see as "clean" and my lions are marked with it sure, but when sold I dont put that term in the ad, and if mentioned its listed that no lions are repeated in that first page (ie the first page is "clean") Breeding for stats is tricky I feel as many lions are related. I dont have funds to put into the game (1 dollar in my currency is just over 11 swe crowns or there abouts) so that makes some parts of the more of a challenge and a hard grind. Perhaps why I for my own sake see that first page as "clean". To get rid of them all together and the hard work Ive put into them would be sad. Ive done a lot of real horse pedigree research and its not uncommon to see the same horses more often than not. That said Im not one that think the parent/offspring is a good thing, or when I discovered a real pony whos dad was its sire, grandsire and greatgrandsire. But when the same horse is visible 3 times in the 4th or 5th gen, then its so far back it dont make a whole lot of a difference. But as mentioned in my first post, we all play different :) 1 player likes this post! Like? |

I understand! Definitely wasn't trying to accuse you of falsely advertising. I've seen people do it before, though, so I mentioned it anyway. February has a lot of items with great resale value, so if you sell in a couple months you can potentially get a good chunk of money from them! 1 player likes this post! Like? |

Oh not to worry, I didnt take it like that at all :) <3 I just mentioned me writing it out on my page as a sort of clarification if a note in the lions detail say "#clean". I am trying to breed it out of the first page the best that I can. Even if it means I will have to sell off some of my high stat ladies (and just hope they will leave some offspring that is decent looking as well as high stat ;) ) Yeah, its many nice items. "Problem" is tho Ive used many or most of my heartshells so far trying to get apps to have a chance to make a good looking male when my current one kicks the bucket. Not that I expect people to rush to him but you know...its nice to have something pretty to look at. And there might be more that like me dont really see past that first or second page of pedigree. Im still on the fence with my heir however... he have nice stats but he have a smidge of dirtyness. I have to decide soon if I will still go for him or try to see if I can afford a actual clean lion that have a nice set of stats that I can work on... so far the ones Ive seen have been out of my range. Just for fun I actually looked at one of my lionesses, she was "clean" until the 5-6th page or there abouts... its so "odd" that even so far back she would be considered dirty, vs one that perhaps have like that pony I mentioned as a example. That said tho we all play different, and the most important bit is that we play it in the way that makes us happy (and not hurting others of course). 1 player likes this post! Like? |
