I love these sorts of contests! I'm..not totally sure how much I like my entry, but I think it does at least fit the theme, which I suppose is the only real goal here. It feels almost blasphemous to complete a lagoon-themed prompt without the lagoon skin, though

I realised I forgot a description before, so editing the post to include one :P I really wanted to make a lion with three distinct bands of land-sea-land (snuggle mark shapes helped a lot here!), and luckily enough I found a combination that specifically on male tigons had that gold lower curve following up the flank and completing a nice line under the middle blue 'sea'. The feline markings on the legs and pale unders really reminded me of the very tip of the tide breaking on a beach, and there's a lot of texture (spots etc.) at the top to make it feel rocky/sandy! It's definitely not a pure water/sea design, which I'm glad about. Lagoons for me conjure up seperate imagery than just the ocean, and I hope I kind of captured that here his decor is.. lackluster, honestly, but I'll admit I'm not great at that side of things

Introducing Sound!

Sound is lovingly named after the Albemarle Sound (an estuary *meaning it has salt water and fresh water * but it's very similar to a lagoon), which my family has a beach house by! What gave me inspiration for this design is the song "Kokomo" by the Beach Boys and Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.

I gave Sound blue markings to represent the deep blue waters, mistletoe green to match the reeds and marsh surrounding Albemarle, and cream to match the sands!

Here's Arodon (w/ Decor)

Her name comes from the Latin name for the Great White Shark, "Carcharodon carcharias."

My inspiration for her is her namesake, as well as various other shark patternings.

As far as a back story/description goes, Aradon is an otherworldly being, representative of the dangers of the sea. What seems like a calm lagoon can house a deadly undertow beneath its calm waves, ready to drag you out into the open ocean. Similarly, Aradon seems sweet enough, beckoning you to take a swim with her.

Isthmuse - named after a stretch of land connecting two areas that make up a lagoon! She's got the patterns of seafoam in her fur, which give way to the pebbled expanse of a calm beach. Ornamented, calm, and sociable, she's every part as light and relaxing as the patron of a scenic lagoon should be.
