“What do you mean, you’re ‘going home’?” Rika slammed the palms of her hands down on the table, nearly sending the last working lantern tumbling down into the dirt. “You’re the one who brought us here in the first place!”
Her rough voice carried out across the open field, frustrated and incredulous. Facing her across the table, the captain of the expedition closed his eyes and took a deep, sighing breath. “You heard the guide yourself. You saw all the crews leaving empty-handed, back at the port. There’s no treasure in the Veiled Oasis. And there’s no profit to be made from hostile, treasureless natives,” he explained levelly, as if speaking to an angry child. “Even if we did find the Oasis - even if we found it first - there wouldn’t be any gold for you to get your percentage of, anyway. I hereby release you from your contracts.” Captain Williams raised his voice to deliver that last command to the rest of the crew, who had begun to watch curiously from their posts around the camp.
Rika drew her fingers back into fists. She wanted to punch him square in the jaw. Three months of sailing in that flimsy old ship, six days of trekking in the humid heat toward the nearest village, ten hours of riding on horseback to the jungle’s edge, all just to be told to turn around and go back where they came from! It wasn’t right, and no one was to blame for it more than Williams. The artificer raised her fist, stuck out a finger in an obscene gesture, and stormed off toward her tent.
Captain Williams shook his head to himself. Not for the first time, his empty pockets felt much heavier now than they had when they were full of the gold of his investors. He couldn’t decide which would be worse: the long journey back across the sea with five passengers who now probably wanted to kill him, or the looks on the faces of everyone who ever believed in him back home, when he would have to tell them it was all for nothing. It was almost tempting to run off and live in the wilderness alone forever instead. Almost.

- Herb search. One or more of young Owl's clanmates (maybe his parent or parents?) fall very sick after eating prey tainted by human pollution. With permission from RPers involved, the MC would happen to have just run out of the herb they need to treat it. Owlkit/paw overhears this and sneaks out to look for the herb, intentionally crossing into another clan's border in his search. He ends up unsuccessful for some reason, like getting caught by a patrol or being cornered by a predator, and it turns out that his help wasn't needed anyway because ShadowClan could just trade with other clans for the herb. Afterward, he reflects on how little the rules seemed to matter when things got serious, and how good it felt to do what he thought was right even though it didn't end up helping.

- Grudge and executioner. As he comes of age to start asking questions about the world, Owlpaw gets into a fight with a fellow apprentice because they each feel the need to call the other out on their flaws. After all, at that age he hasn't taken the time to think through his own views, like how he looks down on cowards yet he's a total bystander himself around threats and bullies. Because of this fight, he refuses to do anything nice that could possibly benefit his new enemy; leaving their nest dirty when assigned to clean the camp, misdirecting them on a hunting patrol when they forget where they buried their prey. Eventually, this turns a sparring match into an all-out brawl. It takes an authority figure - a parent, mentor, HP, or maybe even a vision from StarClan - to give Owlpaw a compassionate point of view and help him realize that his problems are much smaller than he thinks.

- First love. As an older apprentice, Owlpaw attends a gathering and meets an apprentice from another clan. They talk for hours and find that they have a lot in common, and they later recognize their feelings for each other during an accidental border crossing incident. But following his parents' (and perhaps siblings') advice, he decides to end things with the other apprentice, breaking both their hearts. Even later, he sees the apprentice happily together with someone else, and he lives to regret listening to his head instead of his heart.

- Mere mortals. During an age when his emotions are more intense, Owlpaw/claw is troubled by spiritual shenanigans, which may be adapted to someone else's existing plot. Maybe someone uses telepathy to fight dirty in a raid or border scuffle, or maybe a dreamwalker or possessed loved one tricks him into doing something extreme. Provoked, he develops a negative view of non-StarClan spirits or power users in general, and for a while he spends less time relaxing and more time training against supernatural attacks. (He may or may not gain Telepathy or The Sight, but only in the sense that he uses a limited version of it to block out others.) Optionally, someone talks him out of holding an eternal grudge before he takes things too far.
