Especially since they long ago changed the achievement from being first to post in the news to just post in the news and randomly get it. But, it didn't ever change the content of the comments. I appreciate the thoughtful discussions that occur in the news posts' comments sections and especially when the mods/admin follow-up with any concerns, but I have to go through pages of spam to see them.

Yeah, the "first post" one was actually less annoying because it was a much smaller window and people would generally stop or obviously not even attempt once there were already posts on the news.

I know they were probably trying to encourage people to comment on the news, but it doesn't help when the comments are just "omg newz" and not anything actually pertaining to the news post at all... It just encourages spam instead.

We now have liking the post - I suggest moving the achievement into a random chance when you first Like a news post! So the first time you like the news post, there's same chance to get achievement as there's currently is when you comment on news. That will both encourage using the new liking system more AND solve the spam problem

There are actually more forum post achievements apparently.... and as expected they literally all just encourage spam.
