Hello Everyone,

I want to ask for some advice from veteran players or anyone who knows what they're talking about.

I just bred my first ever piebald. I have never bred one before or even owned one til today. He's a G4 Harlequin and I'm wondering if it would be worth it to make him my heir? Would people still want to breed with him even if he's G4? I know for some players that's a little high of a gen and they don't want that. Would the cubs still be valuable enough that people would want to make them? And would people be interested in G5 piebalds enough to buy them? Again, I'm just wondering if it would be worth it. These concerns might be really stupid idk, but any advice or insights would be great, thank you!

For reference, this is him, right?

I generally think you should king whatever makes you happy. A lot of people care about heritage, but he's decently short gen. I think a bigger thing would be his appearance. Would you be modifying him in any way, or just using him as a mutie rep?

People probably don't want g5 piebalds for heirs, but they might be interested in aesthetically pleasing ones to keep as pride members.

Piebalds are always a great choice heir-wise, they're a very popular mutation. As for heritage, there are many players who tend to overlook heritage completely, while some don't. Its mostly up to personal preference! There are plenty of G4 kings out there, and I guarantee you'll get some good money from stud requests. I say go for it!

Either way, again, king what you like! Hisper is right that some people overlook heritage entirely. Markings and base are pretty important when folks choose who to stud, and I think you'll be fine with that!

I will say you might be able to find a lower gen piebald with more markings for cheaper than it would cost to customize him, but if this guy has sentimental value, go for it.

For what it's worth, I personally buy/breed lions without even looking at heritages. And enough other people obviously do too since I've never had trouble selling lions with inbreeding if they have other desirable traits - whether that's mutation or otherwise. I'm sure you'd find buyers for cute piebald cubs.

Mutation and heritage aside, the base (ideally special) and overall appearance matter far more to me and a lot of players, in terms of both studding and cubs :)

@leon yes I will be modifying him with a different base and adding markings to him. I just haven't figured out how I want his final look to be yet.

From what I've seen, most players are fine with G4, that's still considered quite low gen. (Personally, I'd definitely use a G4 stud!! Absolutely) Piebald mutation certainly helps, and if you can get a special-base applicator and some pretty markings, you're set!
