You'd need a sub male slot to get that training on him, though  a cub only gets their cub training applied on the rollover it turns 2 years old and becomes adult. If you king him when he has 100% training but before he turns 2 years old, he wont get any of the training applied. He needs to grow up in-pride to recieve the stat bonus.
