Hi there!

I’m a newbie, so I’m just understanding the systems here.

I found this lioness in explore, I have never seen a random lioness encounter with this many cool markings: https://www.lioden.com/lion.php?id=794191705160

(She’s such a beaut honestly)

How rare is this type of encounter? Does the rarity of the lioness go up with each area you explore? What is the likelihood I’ll find another lioness with these event genes??? Did I get lucky, or have my other random encounters just sucked?

Thanks guys!!

Sadie

She's not an event NCL - she's a Chased NCL! Congrats on catching her!
Chased NCLs are lionesses between 2 and 10 years old that users chase; there's 50% chance they're deleted and 50% chance they will appear in explore to be claimed! They can have literally any traits - it depends on what lionesses the users chased! And they can be hard to find, as they're also only found when somebody chases any age fitting lionesses, and they get lucky enough to get into the explore!

Hi!
Oh I’ve seen you in threads before, thanks for responding!!

Wait so someone chased her off?? I feel so bad, she’s so pretty! But that makes sense, I hadn’t seen some of these markings in the event posts so I was confused.

Does this happen with lionesses that are sent to the reserve, or just chased off lions? Does this make it better to chase off lions with many markings?

Thanks again for your help!

It only happens with lionesses chased through the Chase Off button!

Its up to you what is best to do with your lionesses, but if you dont want a lioness anymore, and you chase her off when she's between the age of 2 and 10 years, then she will have 50% chance to make it into explore! There is still a 50% chance she will be deleted, though. So if its a really good lioness, its a risk to chase one off - she might just be deleted, so lionesses with very rare traits such as special bases and rosettes are even more rare to find in explore. But they still can be found sometimes!

Some people just chase off any lions they dont need - I know I sometimes chase off several when Im done with a project, and I dont want to spend my time selling them. Sometimes people even specifically chase lions off so they make it into explore - their heritage is wiped when they're chased, so its a great way to "clean" a heritage and produce more unrelated lionesses with those traits, to breed around and spread their traits without spreading more inbreeding!

I kinda like the concept of them still existing, or getting a chance to. I didn’t know how to expand my territory so I sent a couple to the reserves and now I’m bummed I didnt give them a chance to exist because I chose that route 🥲

Ah, and “clean” means no uh, inbreeding right? I was wondering why I couldn’t see her history and previous pride. It sounds like in a way, chased lionesses benefit the community by spreading markings to people who didn’t have them, though I guess you can trade too. Makes sense!

Side question: Does a “dirty” lion have a higher chance of passing mutations onto offspring? I’ve seen some anti-dirty sentiments here so (ethically, understandable), but are there any real repercussions to inbreeding?

Thanks for helping me understand!

Inbreeding is only a personal playstyle choice - it has no benefits or downsides, and does not increase chances for mutations to pass! Some people just prefer it - for a challange or for ethical side of it - to have no inbreeding in the heritage of their lions. So there's no benefit for having "dirty" lions aside from them sometimes being cheaper and easier to get than their "clean" analogues.

Clean means there's no inbreeding and no "Big Four" lions in heritage - the superstat lions like Keyser Soze, sadly I dont remember the others right now - but they're also included because they're heavily inbred themselves. Users often check for inbreeding in the entire heritage, not just first page, and the shorter the lineage is, the easier it is to check if there's any inbreeding!

That's why lower gen lions have a bit more demand - there's more people interested in them.

I see why it’s so challenging, with so few males it’s hard to get the genes to not cross. I have a question about that, does that mean that it’s better to find a stud for your lionesses?

Oh, and a question about chased lionesses, do they have a higher chance for hidden markings than other ncls?

Sorry for all the questions- thanks for all your help!!

If you're looking to sell cubs, its better to find a stud; non-inbred cubs are easier to sell. However if its for your own lines only, its up to you if you use studs or inbreed!

No, the chased lionesses purely depend on what users chase at the moment; if there are many hidden mark lionesses chased, they will have hidden marks, if not, there will be none. Chased NCLs depend exactly on what lionesses are chased recently!
