Lion scrotum only gives a chance of passing down specifically the mother's mutation. So in the case of a DU, it gives a small (5% per cub) chance of female cubs also being DUs.

CRB on the other hand is a general mutation item. It is mostly thought to have a higher than 5% per cub chance of success (more like double that), though exact numbers are not known because staff don't release them. But the mutation the cub gets from CRBs could be anything, meaning it's more of a gamble. Rather than a valuable DU, or even something more valuable/rare, you'd always be much much more likely to get a common mut from it like foldies, mane muts, achromia, etc.

Personally I wouldn't waste a DU breeding using a CRB if I had the option to use lion scrotum + great tit (+ buffalo scrotum of course) for a chance of getting more valuable DU cub(s) instead. But it entirely depends what your priorities are and what muts you want.
