Very impressive layout and design!! I really like it! I think what's making the votes so split is that the design looks more like white + black *markings* on a base instead of being part of the base. I think emphasizing the colours seen on the face + back, and removing/de-emphasizing the white chest and black legs (and maybe darkening the red) could make a great base :O

It's a good concept, I like the effort in the layout + the design for the base's item as well!!

Edit addition: I really like how the face looks as well!
