[ Support My Other Suggestions? ]

Let's Revisit Grandpaws: A Much-Needed Fix
Making Sub Males More Useful
Tidying Up 99999 SB Listings on Branches
-------

✪ Summary:

This suggestion is a blanket suggestion to improve the way that crafting materials are distributed across crafted game items. This thread is image heavy, to get the point across more effectively. ):

Foreward:
Recently, I paid a player to go through the list of EVERY craftable item and find me items that were not used at all, or were used in 1-2 recipes. The amount is ridiculous. Zero-use items are not listed, but include most of the collectable beetles and Sable Horns.

Recently, there is an epidemic on Lioden where the same few resources are used across MANY different crafting recipes, and worse, some are demanded in large bulk for quests.

Perhaps the worst offender of this is herbs.

Herbs are required for the Demiurge Quest, but also required in a number of applicators.

And applicators which utilize herbs, often use the exact same herbs over and over.

Some, like Buchu and Nutgrass, are requested in not only large quantities, but for so many items.

And only Shiny RED Rocks have been used in recipes, where other Shiny Rocks could easily serve as stand-ins, in some of these other recipes that keep using the same herbs.

On the topic of coloured stones, Rainbow Stones have been regurgitated into so many recipes that could also easily use a number of Shiny Rocks, resulting in such overflow that I can't even show you the full list. :D Look at the size of that scroll bar!

Some crafting materials were added and just entirely forgotten about, such as sable horns.

How many do YOU have in your inventory, waiting for a reason to use them? Sure, you can use them as toys, but why have the description say "Or collect for future crafting"?

Some applicators, which would have made perfect sense as craftables, weren't! What am I expected to do with FOUR HUNDRED AND TEN Jacana legs? I guess I could make 12+ Jacana Bird decors? Seriously, why the heck wasn't Jacana base craftable? These legs could also be a stand-in for blue-coloured craftables, instead of using Rainbow Stones for blue!

Reaching the Wetlands in explore means I DROWN in Black Heron feathers - another item with no use except a single, plain feather decor, that could be given one as a special reward!!

EDIT AUGUST 2024: We have a BRAND NEW WORST OFFENDER! Wow! D:
Underbrush, Large Rocks and Large Leaves are now an incredibly SCARCE resourece, which is a HUGE PROBLEM because they're an important component for den crafting - an important aspect of the game which will adversely affect all players.
Not only is it used for multiple quests, but also has a ton of recipes requiring it

EDIT AUGUST 2024: Another recipe was added that uses herbs: Korobela.

✪ What I Am Proposing:

[+] Please pick from the OTHER crafting materials in the game instead of using the oversaturated ones!

In short, so many items are going to waste and rotting in player inventories with next to no uses, while other items are experiencing oversaturation of uses and dwindling the number available, hiking the prices to ridiculous amounts.

If you don't support, I'd like to know why. I appreciate constructive criticism over a simple "no".

This suggestion has 99 supports and 2 NO supports.

I have literally close to 9,500 uses of crafting items. This has to be taking up server space if all of us have this many items sitting around. Support. I want to use up these items.

You got my support! I can definitely relate to drowning in black heron feathers. Lol. Besides the Eagle feathers and a few others I just turn the rest of my feathers into nesting material.

Omg yes ! I get so sick of only being able to craft like 1-2 things bc I ran out of shiny red rocks or an herb ! I’d really love this !

Yes please. I think I have mentioned this before. But it's such a pain to craft for example the fushia flower craftables bases. Not because they have the flowers in them but there is a lot of herb overlap.

The most recent applicators are a mix of good and bad. Love that sable horns and antelope hooves got used. Finally! Same with bird eggs! Very happy to see it.

That said, we're 2 steps forward and 2 steps back.
Nut Grass is used in over 20 recipes in high quantities, Large Leaves in 40 recipes, and Murex Shells in over 30.

Using Fuchsia Flowers (available year-round now) would have been a much better choice for the applicator. :

Because even tho it has a lot of recipes, they use barely any for the most part.

In all honesty, they need to stop making new craftables as well. Many of the new craftable based items have little to no use, and it leads to the zero use craftables being no more than junk.

I think that it's important to preserve aspects of gameplay we don't use ourselves. I don't craft much, but I know some people love doing it.

This suggestion is mostly to be more responsible about how they distribute craft components, because it's driving up the cost of items that users need for events and day to day use. The price of underbrush during last month reached 500 SB each (that I saw), for instance.

let me clarify:
They need to stop implementing new craftables, as in the items. They need to employ the use of pre-existing, wasted craftable items before filling the category with more 1-use or zero-use items. I am not suggesting for them to never update the cratables section with new craftable assets, I use the section and would find it really shitty if they did that

Oh yes, I definitely agree with that. Until the existing ones have all been given sufficent use, no need to add more. People talk a lot about 'database bloat', but things like this probably contribute more to unnecessary data storage than other stuff

A recipe to make shiny rocks into rainbow stones, for example, or smth like that would be so helpful especially if rainbow stones already get so many recipes

Definitely can see that being a great use of surpluss stones. Could possibly apply to other things as well, like crafting pet rocks into large rocks, or vice versa, logs into sticks, etc.
