Hi! I'm Auris, and this is an heir project I've been working on for a bit that I've decided to hopefully start logging now. As the title suggests, this is a pretty casual breeding project, meaning that I'm trying to not set a huge goal for myself immediately at the start. The main idea is to slowly breed on BO features, replacing applicable features, and mostly only settle on my next goal once I've bred my next step.

This project was roughly started some time after 2/17/2022, the date when Merc was kinged. Since I've started logging for this thread at 6/16/2023, some of the steps may not have accurate dates.

The main subject and 'base' of this project is one Mercenary of Monsters ('Merc' for short, as I'll be referring to her from now on). We'll be building off of her base design and using these markings to replace with applicables.

Her markings are:
→ Slot 1: Citron Crackle (100%)
→ Slot 2: Fiery Undercover (100%)
→ Slot 3: Hibiscus Rogue (100%)
→ Slot 4: Ice Undershine (100%)
→ Slot 7: Hibiscus Feline (53%)
→ Slot 8: Peach Speckles (100%)
→ Slot 9: White Undertone (100%)
→ Slot 10: Demonic Feralis (100%)
You'll notice that slots 5 and 6 are empty. This was the first goal settled upon: Breed Scoundrel Pelage in slot 5, and Scoundrel Undersides in slot 6! I also wanted to replace Bloodbath mane with Ebony mane instead, keeping the Royal shape.

For this part of the project, images of the steps will not be provided as they were intentionally left plain and the Translucent Jellyfish decor was used. This was because I vastly overestimated how quick this would be to breed, and how to productively work at a project. By this exact point, I was getting a little fed up. Ebony is a rare base, right? Why is it taking so much time to pass?! Fed up, I eventually gave in and kinged a lion with the mane color, shape, and both markings I wanted, giving them a Black Dark Solid Special base, Spectre. And wouldn't you know it... an obnoxiously fast 14 days later and he was born.


He doesn't look like much here, but of course, I was overjoyed. Upping the opacities of his markings and dumping an embarrassing 200+ gb on Hibiscus and Citron marking applicators (of course, a few months before the update to marking applicators that would allow you to choose which one you wanted), he was morphed into this:

Herald of Heretics was born on 1/03/2023 and was promptly kinged the next day, 1/4/2023.
