i have a quick question! will the winner be chosen based on how much you like a design or will it be chosen by a number gen/diff way? also is there an end date?

Aurum was born to a small pride, alongside the ocean on a small but beautiful island not far off from the mainland. every year, the island bloomed full of wild flowers, the pride loved seeing them blossom each year and they often helped water them.

once he was old enough, Aurum spent most his time playing in the flowers with his siblings and picking them to decorate his fur, the other lions often found his antics strange but never discouraged it. As he aged Aurum discovered how much he loved seeing the flowers cover the island. It had been many years since the pride first came to this island and with the pride growing they knew they could not stay forever. Aurum was heartbroken, he did not want to leave the safety of his flower forests, but his pride had decided. by next wet season, they would leave the island to find a larger territory for the pride.

Aurum spent most of his time now in the deep forests, even in dry season he noticed part of the forest always seemed alive and colorful, pretty flowers growing from the ground all the way up the trees. During the last few days of the dry season they had harsh rainstorms, scaring the last of the prey off the island. The pride knew they would not make it much longer without the prey, so they made the hard choice to leave sooner. On the last day on the island a horrible and brutal storm had passed over them and the pride had no choice but to push farther into the tropical forests. The loud sounds of nearby thunder and bright flashing lightning scared the already weary pride, Aurum was the only one who knew the forest like the back of his paw. He began leading the pride deeper, he knew a safe cave they could stay in until the storm passed. They finally arrived by nightfall and being tired from the trip they all went in to rest, Aurum stayed right by the cave entrance unable to sleep.

He didn't want to leave his forest, he felt connected and safe here, the familiar sweet smells of the wild flowers were comforting. Aurum was brought out of thoughts by a loud crash nearby, he carefully crept out of the cave to find that a strike of lightning had caught a tree nearby on fire. Aurum watched in shock as the flames quickly sped, even in rain the flames spread throughout the trees and towards the cave. Aurum ran back into the cave and began waking his pridemates up, the loud sound of rain and roaring flames outside caused many lions to panic and rush out of the cave.

Aurum tried his best to guide everyone away, heading towards the mainland. He and the pride made it to the shore, right when they were about to cross a lioness cried out, unable to find her cubs. The fires had gotten bad by the time they reached the shore, and Aurum knew it was a slim chance of making it back. To the prides surprise, he turned and ran back into the forest to find the missing cubs, the thick smoke burned his eyes and filled his lungs as he roared out desperately calling for the lost cubs, he began to lose hope before he heard two soft mews from a nearby bush. He rushed over to lead them back to the pride, they were young cubs but thankfully unhurt and able to run by themselves. Aurum could feel himself getting weak, he knew he wouldn't make it back out of the fires. He told the cubs what direction to head in, he tried his best to lead them before he collapsed to the ground, coughing heavily from the smoke.

The cubs made it safely back to the pride, but Aurum was nowhere to be found. they understood what had happened..they silently thanked him before turning and swimming off to the mainland.

Aurum awoke by himself, burned trees and soft glowing ashes all around him. the bright and sunny sky almost made him forget the night before. He stood up, shaking off ashes coating his fur. He knew his pride was long gone but he was happy knowing they were safe. He walked slowly as he looked up at the once colorful and bright trees, now burned and blackened. Aurum knew he should leave, that there was nothing left for him here..but he couldn't give up. This was his home. Aurum spent many years helping the forest regrow. His pride often visited to leave him gifts for his selfless act and bravery. they honored his "death" each year when the trees would bloom and the wind would blow soft sweet breezes full of the freshly blossomed flowers. The pride weren't completely sure he was gone, their offerings were always gone the next time they came back, but they knew if he was out there somewhere, he was happy.


(Aurum means gold! i thought it was just fitting for his decor :) )

Me and my SO just read out your entry, it was amazing, we loved all the content you included and I appreciate your entry very much! The gold chains on the lion and the golden flowers were an excellent detail, the white flowers and b/w beads were great with the white mane extension.
