I know this has been a problem ever since the event started but yeah, Anubis is a trash battle buddy.

I know the fights with the snakes are supposed to be difficult, but you can't even compare how useful Bast and Seth are, while Anubis barely helps out. It is very frustrating...

The main problem is that Seth and Bast help out during almost every turn. So why not have Anubis do the same? Seth boosts your attack, Bast heals you.

Why not have Anubis absorb or weaken the attack of the snakes by some points? That way you don't get hit by an ice-cream truck every time...
