Have you ever seen a trade listed as: "Young Tigon, will kill if she doesn't sell". Well, if you haven't: You either never check TC, or you're lucky! These trades are repetitive, annoying, and use one of the most infamous and deceptive techniques in advertisement history. Clickbaiting. Definition: "clickbait /ˈklɪkbeɪt/ (on the internet) content whose main purpose is to attract attention and encourage visitors to click on a link to a particular web page." While clickbait itself isn't inherently bad, it's always used for bad purposes. It tempts people to click on things while lying about what they're gonna do if it's not bought. Because, let's be frank, nobody's gonna kill their double uterus, pon for gon. It's all just a cheap tactic to bring attention to your trade. It's dishonest and basically lying. So what I intend to forbid, is the usage of this tactic on high value lions. BEFORE I get backlash from the comment section, let me sum up what I intend to outlaw. - trade titles with "will do *severe consequence* if not bought". Groups I am not targeting nor do I intend to outlaw them with this thread: - Titles containing "must see" - Titles containing "Pretty" While others may view it as not. - Titles containing "Heirworthy" - And any other group of trade name I didn't target in this. Things like "pretty" or "heirworthy" are personal views and I'll leave them alone. But "will kill" is baiting and lying. |

It depends heavily on context though. "Will chase/kill/send if not taken" Isn't exactly bad, many people ACTUALLY, do kill, and I"m saying that as someone who does that, after putting lions like primals, achros, melas, etc. for very cheap and not being able to sell them. As much as I don't believe one would kill a DU, Hybrid or other on a regular basis, it is something that happens. For example: someone in chat, was Sent dwarves to "Sacrifice them": they were all killed. Therefore, as much as it may be some sort of "Clickbait" It isn't that harmful. It is annoying, that I will agree. But filtering TC even more wont really do any good. Especially since not everyone would be lying about actually killing a lion. -A no support from me 2 players like this post! Like? |

Supporting. Especially when there's users chatting about "killing x if it doesn't sell" in main, which isn't even the proper channel to discuss these things (it's up for sale - take it to SALES). And it is always used as PURELY a sale tactic - the amount of times I've seen it followed through with is... 0 unless it's already a rather low-value lion. It's commonly used for high value lions as you mentioned (leopons, DUs, etc) for purely guilt factor. I'm perfectly fine with people killing lions if they don't sell, even if it's a hybrid or whatever else. Everyone is more than welcome to! But I don't think it is fair to use as an attempted guilt trip that they won't even follow through with in hopes it will get them an easy sale. "Will kill today if not sold." Two weeks later, it's up again in a fresh trade as if they didn't already say they were going to kill it two weeks before. The only intention there is to invoke panic and guilt from someone trying to 'save' a rare mutation. I would especially like there to be follow-through with not mentioning lions in main chat for sale this way, as it seems to be skirted around quite often by users who mention 'I hate my leopon I'm going to kill her.' You go to their den, the only lion they could possibly be referring to is up for sale with, no surprise, 'killing if not sold' as the name of the trade. No matter how often the messages get flagged, the messages keep coming up every single day/every few days and it's quite annoying. Just my own two cents. c: Edit: I think the fair reasoning would be 'it's not an airport, don't announce your departure' sort of vibe for the trades. They can do what they want - it's not needed to be announced as a cheap sales gimmick. 6 players like this post! Like? Edited on 27/06/23 @ 11:28:55 by Ramune [G1 8/31/18 RLC] (#46341) |

Just a heads up; I made a thread just like this at the start of the month, which means this one may be closed down by mods for being a "duplicate topic"! https://www.lioden.com/topic.php?id=304429510069 0 players like this post! Like? |

I support! I would also add "please buy/take" , "need gone" and "ASAP" to the clickbait list. EDIT: just saw a trade titled “PLEASE BRO PLEASE DESPERATE FOR SB” and yea. No idea why these trade titles are allowed when begging is against rules. 🙄 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 27/09/23 @ 11:33:15 by ♠️ Adam [G2 Ivory Fissure] (#334921) |
