You get to pick a lion! You can click "retire" and check out the page! You will be able to pick the heir and you will have the choice to keep your current king's appearance or go with the heir's appearance.

They can retire for free at 15 years old and you are forced to retire at 16 years. You can retire him early for a 10 gold beetle fee. After you retire a king there is a 30 day cooldown. If you want to retire your king again before the 30 days is up there will be a 15 gold beetle fee ontop of the 10, meaning you need to pay 25 gold beetles to retire again.

Alright! So in that case, when my main lion retires, do I get to choose my next main, or does it automatically choose the eldest lion for me?

You get to choose which lion you want to king and choose whether to use the heir’s appearance or your current king’s appearance, or you can roll random low-statted lions to king. (You can’t keep your current king’s appearance if you decide to roll)
