I understand we already have notifications to tell us when the thread has been posted on, but I'd like something more specific.

A lot of people already do @username to indicate who they're talking to, but I think it'd be nice if the user actually got a notification so that they don't miss the post if it gets buried.

There'd be another tab next to "Chat Room" at the top of the forum page: "Pings". When clicked, you'd get a list of where you've been pinged (perhaps a link to the thread, and then below it, in a list, it would show the pings from that thread), and clicking the link would take you to that post. Beside the link, you could also opt out of pings for that thread. If you don't want pings at all, there would be a button at the top that would say "Disable all pings". If you want to enable pings for a thread again, the "disable pings" button would become "enable pings".

Let me know if this has been rejected before or something because this is pulling at my memory lol
