Celestial Eclipse Lore
So, first of all, what the hell is up with the different Celestial Explore zones? Well, I'm glad you asked.
Long, long ago, when the first stars were born, and the first Celestial Entities began to emerge, there was nothing but space. Space to conquer, and to own. Almost as soon as there were different types of entities, brutal wars emerged, all for one goal, to own the entire cosmos. These wars were brutal, ravaging newly developing planets, destroying stars, ending galaxies. After eons of horrific atrocities, finally, the leaders of each army met among the Leo Group, where, finally, a treaty was signed.
Each type of Celestial creature would get their own territory, first, the reptilians got the Draco Constellation. Then, the oceanics got the Veil Nebula. From there, the cosmos were divided, giving each species their own place to run rampant. As a result, they promised not to mettle in the affairs of their neighbors, all except for one, the Leo Group, which, as the brokers of the treaty, demanded the lead on the Celestial Council.
Fearing extinction with the Leos hunting tactics and their power over suns, stars, and moons, the others relented.
The treaty, however, gives birth to two opposing factions in the Leo Group, with all of their fellow Celestials too scared to check them. The Sol and The Crescent. These two groups differ only on which celestial body they worship, The Sols worshipping suns and stars, while The Crescents worship moons. In order to hopefully quell these two from destroying the Leo Group in their civil war, a young celestial from the dwarf galaxy came up with a plan...
He gives a prophecy, and sets it in stone with the stars. If they continue their war, their conquest, eventually, a being will be born of both kingdoms. This being, who he calls The Eclipse, will have the power to either unite or destroy the cosmos as they know it. The only way to prevent its birth is for them to recede into their respective Celestial Bodies, a large Sun and Moon orbiting a nearby young planet, Earth. In their absence, an army called The Outreach, assembled from various constellations, would form and protect the space they once called their territory.
Hesitantly, the Sol and Crescent agree. They retreat into the Earth's Sun and Moon, forming their colonies there, to save the Celestial Kingdoms.
Of course, if this worked, we wouldn't have a storyline.
Hundreds of thousand of years later, at a meeting of the galaxies, the Sol and Crescent both leave their homes to meet with their fellow Celestials. For the Sols, they send their king, King Anhur, and his daughter, the Crown Princess, Tefnut. The Crescents send their queen, Queen Amesemi, and her second son, Prince Apedemak.
It is here where Tefnut and Apedemak meet, and where the Eclipse begins to form. The two young Celestials quickly fall head over heels for each other, with Apedemak striking a deal with a Outreach Watcher named Abaddon to allow him and Tefnut to sneak around in the unclaimed stars. The young lovebirds continue this for years, well into their adulthood, even as they are attempted to be married off to Celestials their parents find suitable.
Their happy romance comes crashing down when Tefnut falls pregnant. Faced with no other options, Apedemak whisks her away to Earth, terror in his heart. It is on Earth where their daughter, Menhit, the first Celestial to be born on our tiny little rock, is birthed. With her unique pale coat and her piercing yellow eyes, there is no hiding that their daughter is born to be the Eclipse. The pair make a vow to value her safety over all else, deciding to live among the lions of Earth and hide their Celestial origins.
This does not work for long. Once the Sol and Crescent leaders awoke to find their children missing, it did not take much to find out what had happened. Immediately, Leonid Scouts from the Outreach are sent to find the pair, and drag them back before the Eclipse can be born. It is at this moment where Tefnut, hunting with her young cub, is cornered by several scouts. She screams for Apedemak, but by the time he arrives, Tefnut has killed the Scouts... and succumbed to her own severe wounds, leaving poor Menhit alone, curled into her mother's corpse.
