I’ll put my context and reasoning why first, the last paragraph is the actual suggestion. You can skip to that if you don’t want to read it all. I know I'm wordy.

I work six days a week right now, and for the next three years it’s going to be six days a week for six months out of the year. It means I don’t have time to actually play Lioden the way I want to for those six months. So, because I don’t want to waste my lion’s lives, I end up on hiatuses constantly. Which is directly against my goals of getting more into the community on Lioden. I have had these goals for years, and very few of you have ever seen me around, I’m sure. There’s a reason I’ve stuck around for over a decade on Lioden, but this is consistently a hurdle I have.

Right now I’m forced to either A, not play at all, or B, try and play and I can’t do it as I want to. As I’m getting more into Lioden again, all I want to do most days is check my forum posts and messages. I don’t want to actually play, because again, I am working six days a week most weeks, I don’t want to age my lions for nothing. Yes, I do have a side account I keep mostly frozen for this, but I don’t think that should be necessary. I’m still aging my main male every day I rollover even if I have every single other lion frozen. I finally like my main male enough that I’d like to keep both of them for a long time.

I also want to note that you can view the forums and news, if not reply, without being logged in. This is a minor way to circumvent this whole issue, but it really is not a way I think you should be forced to use.

Now, I don’t think you should be able to access much else without needing to rollover. No feeding lions, no exploring, nothing but “view only” pages. Kind of like what you see when you’re not logged in, except also seeing PMs and possibly the chat. Trying to do anything not a “community feature” would just take you to the rollover screen, where it’d be exactly how it is right now.

In addition, I might add a text box to say when an account was last rolled over too, since this would de-sync that feature even more. Right now the online icon pops on if you just log in. If I’m just checking if I have a message and have to rollover, it looks like I’m online. Most of the time though, I am not. I also don’t log off Lioden on my PC, so it's probably on a lot. In both of these cases, a lot of people seem to send things like stud requests or trade offers, and I feel bad when I get back on and realize it probably looked like I ignored all of them.




Actual suggestion below.
So with this suggestion you would be able to access the chat pages, PMs, and the forums as you would normally do after rollover, but WITHOUT being forced to rollover. Perhaps you could go to the News page too. Any actual game mechanic page would be exactly as they are now, so you can’t do anything that would affect the game without being taken to the rollover screen. In addition, a “last rollover date” text box could be added, or a text that says an account has not been rolled over could be added to address the de-sync between being online and rolling over that currently exists, and that would get worse with this suggestion.
