Buffalo Carcass by default has 6 uses! 1 use carcasses from trades means the user already used them, or if found in explore, it means you found just a small bit of it.

@Mad Hyena (#29080) Oh really? I didn't know that! My submale found one while on patrol and it only had one use, it was my first time getting a buffalo carcass that's not a drowned one.

Yup! You can see default amount of uses for each item in the Item Catalogue, by the way, just type in a name and see item page, and it will have the information how many uses the item usually comes with.
Sub male patrolling items often start with less uses than normal.
