So, a while back, I made a bunch of July base designs. However, I wasn't very satisfied with the old versions I made, especially since some other players mentioned that they were too saturated, so I decided to try my luck with redesigns of Twilight and its fails.

So, here's Twilight. A bright blue base made because I like bright blue & sky-themed bases, so why not kill 2 birds w/ 1 stone? I also made the gradient diagonal to make it more distinct, since I don't see many diagonally shaded bases.

Fail bases :D:
Now here's the fun part: the other bases are all base-unique fails of Twilight. Unlike combo bases, they can be bred from Twilight x any other base with the right genetics to produce a cub w/ the same genetics as any of the fails (a Celestial & Elysian, for example, will have the same chance of breeding a fail w/ a Twilight). When bred for, any cubs conceived who already rolled the requisite genetics will inherit a fail. They'll all be special bases to keep them hard to get. As a result, breeding these bases is very dependent on parent base genetics.

So here are the bases:

Evening
Red Medium Countershaded Special - tied to Plum skin

The streaks are meant to evoke cirrus clouds during the sunset. The bright red bottom is self-evident, and the sparkling is restricted to the upper front of the body like Twilight. Not much else to say except that I really enjoyed making the streaks along the base, it gives it a distinct flair.

Midnight
Black Dark Countershaded Special - tied to Ink skin

This one's more cloudy than streaky, which is because it's based off of the splotchiness of a night sky uninterrupted by light pollution (if you ever went to a remote spot in a desert at night, you'll see what I mean). People seemed to like it the most out of all the old versions, so I didn't change very much about it.

Morning
Cream Medium Countershaded Special - tied to Welsummer skin

Wasn't really sure if it still qualifies as cream anymore, but I guess the peachy underparts counts if Cherry Blossom, Sphinx, & Nacre are anything to go by. Anyway, like Evening, it's supposed to have a cloud pattern over the base, albeit puffier, w/ the stars restricted to the darker front half of the base. I went for something softer than the bright Evening base as a slightly less saturated alternative

Edit: now that Esker exists, yeah I’d say it should be cream

Noon
Golden Light Countershaded Special - tied to Peach skin

Obviously, it's much less starry than the rest, mostly since it's meant to evoke a day sky & counterbalance Midnight's sparkliness. Also, golden light countershaded needs more BO specials, it's got only 3 :(

How to obtain:

Since the fails are all BO, Twilight itself would be an applicator, most likely in the Draco Demiurge Exchange, though perhaps it could be obtained somewhere else. If you want, you can suggest where it should go.
Of course, if not, they could also work as July Raffle bases.
