edit- calling it "panther variant" So, Melanism in game is literally just the opposite of Albinism/Achromism While that IS basically what it is, it's not just being ALL BLACK with no markings Albinism is just a complete lack of pigment. Melanism isn't just the inverse. It's not just ALL PIGMENT. Because, that doesn't really make sense. There's not a scale of "no pigment to full pigment" There is no "full pigment". Melanism isn't just being all black. Melanistic animals will still have markings, just like non-mutated ones. While I do believe some animals have it more then others, to the point where they will be all black, most aren't that way, and you can still see their markings. eg: https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/976/cpsprodpb/2FE8/production/_130646221_rarejaguarinkaarrivesatchesterzoo-23.jpg Since I know many people still like the current melanism, my suggestion is to have a variant that works exactly the same, the only difference being that the overlay is just slightly transparent so that way the markings still show. The markings might be recolored so they are all a dark black, but that's not needed if it makes it too complicated. Also, I have another mutation idea I may be posting soon loolllll |

Technically we do have melanism variants, they're just called patches. 0 players like this post! Like? |

correct, that is what i mean! @adam, i don't mean that at all. that's just partial melanism, i actually mean a variant that's just "true" melanism 0 players like this post! Like? |

Maybe rename current Melanism to Hypermelanism or even Abundism/Abundistic Melanism to indicate that there is MORE Melanin in the animal preventing the markings from showing up. For regular Melanism, once again- an Overlay, but perhaps lower the opacity down so that markings are somewhat visible but not extremely. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I would support this only really as a completely other mutation. I dont support it as a variant tho, but i think it is cool and very similar to the suggestion of luecism (just this with albino)! But i do agree it needs to be called something different 0 players like this post! Like? |

hypermelanism would refer to being completely full of melanin, as the actual melanism mut in game looks like maybe hypomelanism? (as that is the opposite of hyper) 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 15/11/23 @ 08:51:32 by Nebula [G2 Leonid/Mosaic/1.3K] (#434371) |

Pseudomelanism would work for a new variant, but if the game develops wanted to just change the wording, we could call OG Melanism hypermelanism if needed 1 player likes this post! Like? |
