Hard to summarize in the title with the character limit and such, but this suggestion refers to explore encounters that only increase the community "Locusts killed" bar - not encounters with images of locusts. Additionally, my intention with this suggestion is only for JB to be added to these encounters after all event tiers are unlocked and the community bar is no longer relevant. This probably applies to other events as well, but I don't remember them all that well LOL As of writing this post, the total amount of locusts killed this September is a bit under 1,000,000,000. The final tier unlock was at 300,000,000 (if I'm remembering correctly), which is about 700,000,000 worth of "useless fluff" in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, it's kind of interesting to see how high of a number the community can actually get on these event bars, and staff probably uses this information to predict when the tiers unlock for the following year. But beyond that, it doesn't really do anything for the individual player. I don't think I'm the only one who gets a bit annoyed when I get event encounters that don't give any JB - more so when they don't even give Impression, SB, or energy. Once all tiers are unlocked, I honestly start skipping past encounters like the Cuckoo with the caterpillar since it doesn't give me anything of value, not even a junk item like Blue Diadem Caterpillar [1]. The encounter text says "You inform the cuckoo about the locusts' whereabouts. It gives you the caterpillar and flies towards the swarms. What are you supposed to do with this?" ...WHERE'S MY CATERPILLAR? (I don't actually need more caterpillars lmao, I have like 400. It's about the principle!) I think it would be interesting for these encounters, after the community Locust bar is fully filled and all tiers are unlocked, to start giving 1-2 JB depending on how many locusts they kill. A good, fair amount, in my opinion, would be 1 JB for encounters that give 1-999 Locusts killed, and 2 JB for 1000-1999 killed. 3 JB for 2000+ killed. For the Cuckoo encounter, the underlined text could be modified to something like "You find a shiny Jewel Beetle scurrying along a nearby branch and scoop it up. Nice!" I don't have any other text modifications in mind at the moment, but the encounter texts would probably need a few minor changes or additions to not make the JB feel like an afterthought. I don't mind either way, to be honest, as I don't really even read the full text beyond a quick skim. This change would impact the following encounters (images): I don't really see anything wrong with having some more JB to go around for players to get a bit more stuff. With GMO Cows, Ochre Gnawrocks, and Ochre Saltlicks being by far the most profitable items to buy this event, plenty of people are forgoing whatever decor or backgrounds they might want from the shop. Anyway, feel free to let me know your thoughts regarding this, support or non-support! I know it's somewhat controversial to suggest "easier" events or whatever. I try to avoid sounding like a greedy bastard who wants more juicy event currency, but I will freely admit that's probably the main point of my suggestion, lmao. In any case, thanks for reading and considering it! ---------------- My other suggestions: Masterpost here |

I support. I know it might alter the economy a bit but the bars are fully open by Sept 4th anyways most of the time, might as well just alter the encounters, or have them fully disappear. 0 players like this post! Like? |

I think they should adjust the tier requirements so that they open a bit later, honestly. It doesn't feel like a milestone when they're filled so quickly. Finishing the final tier roughly halfway through the month would be a good timeline, if they can predict the speed of the community progress ahead of time anyway! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Much support. Each year there's more and more decors to buy, but the amount of JB a user can gain in explore remains the same. It'd be a fun extra to unlock past the tiers, and a benefit towards those new decors each year. 3 players like this post! Like? Edited on 27/09/23 @ 09:44:33 by Mad Hyena (#29080) |

Support! Either this, or the non-JB encounters just disappear when fully unlocked. Many of them don't give you shit aside from locusts killed anyway. 2 players like this post! Like? |

Considering how low the encounter rates have been this month so far, I think this would actually be the BEST solution! I get at least half a dozen of these encounters per bar, and get MAX 5 JB producing encounters this month, and it's been INFURIATING not getting anything from these encounters. Genuinely, I get at LEAST three prophet "fight/wrestle" encounters per energy bar and it would be so much nicer to see that brat give me a single JB every time I saw him, especially in the bars that keep giving me two JB producing encounters or less. 0 players like this post! No support. The reason is actually right here. "I don't really see anything wrong with having some more JB to go around for players to get more stuff. With GMO Cows, Ochre Gnawrocks, and Ochre Saltlicks being by far the most profitable items to buy this event, plenty of people are forgoing whatever decor or backgrounds they might want from the shop." The problem is over-saturation. This site's population has more than doubled, and every single item has diminished in value because of a combination of too many people selling too many items, not enough buyers and rampant and irresponsible under-pricing. Ochres and GMOs are some of the last remaining stable priced items that haven't tanked. But already, they've lost about 10-20 GB worth of value. Absolutely no support. This is how I make a lot of my income. 0 players like this post! Like? |

That's fair, I totally understand that perspective! As a seller I absolutely love making bank off my items haha. However, I've gotten into using them for breeding and the amount I get even while grinding kind of suck If I'm being honest my main motivation towards wanting something changed with these encounters really just boils down to it feeling pointless to interact with them after the tiers unlock I am not sure when the shop will fully open this year, but it may be somewhere within the 16-20th depending on how many locusts they set as the final amount. As a mere scrub, I don't really know what effects any of this being implemented would have on the market as a whole, but I'm a rather firm believer that breeding items should be obtainable enough to use on actual breedings for even somewhat casual players. 0 players like this post! TBH thats definitely a probelm but its a bigger problem. i think they need to start making these encounters turn into giving karma or make ones like these drop locust wings when the tiers are full. 0 players like this post! Like? |

We get PLENTY of locust wings, it'd be better if they just stopped popping up and taking away the JB giving encounters x-x 1 player likes this post! Like? |

i feel as though limiting the "high value items" to higher JB prices with low encounter rates ONLY BENEFITS HARDCORE AND PAYING PLAYERS. the casual player isnt going to make that much currency during the month. free to play players are not going to be griding with red bulls and energy boosts. its not going to help the market at all to keep items at such high prices when most of the player base CANT AFFORD THEM OUTSIDE OF BUYING FROM THE EVENT SHOP! i try to stockpile as many items as i can so that i can avoid buying them outside of the event. the prices are ridiculously expensive for players that aren't shoveling USD for currency or already wealthy in the game. giving more currency during the event will just help players be more successful on their own accounts, instead of wasting away their GB to the monopolist accounts with full control over the market 1 player likes this post! i can obviously only speak for myself when replying to this but: i'm neither a hardcore nor a paying player. ive bought exactly zero GB with USD. this is also the first year in over 2 years that ive had more than 100 gb in savings, and thats only coz i sold my jaglion boosts, my crunchy worm, my gmos, and my ochre gnaw i had saved from last year all in one go last month. im very casual. i play about 2-3 times a week on average. i just priortize things that will make me money during events with stuff like this. u cant afford them outside of this shop because selling things on LD has become hard in the last 2+ years. that's the flip side of wanting this stuff to be easier to get. if it's easier to get, you cant sell cuz everyone already has it. cant sell, cant make profit. no profit? cant buy items like these. 0 players like this post! Maybe if they were a bit easier to get, people would feel more comfortable using them rather than holding onto them to sell later? Hard to say though. 0 players like this post! Like? |
