While I agree with the cluttered look of the page, I actually really like the new stylized UI and buttons! It doesn't seem too hard to navigate and I think I could get used to it really fast

oH god, I totally appreciate all the effort you're putting into it but please don't do this. It seems to me that there is a lot of information and color overload that makes me dizzy.
I'm afraid of losing interest after not understanding the new layout. The layout we have really seems pretty good to me.

I think I agree with the general sentiment of it being too cluttered. There's a lot of scrolling on mobile and just a lot going on on desktop. That being said, it does look clean - as in, updated and modern, and more like a game than a browser sim. I like the concept of the decor previews now showing, but I think that should be toggleable, as it adds too much to the page visually. I also think nursing cubs should be moved up next to breeding information - those buttons could easily go beneath those two elements without subtracting from their visibility.

I'm not really sure what you'd then do with Lifetime hunt stats, but if cubs was moved up, you could probably condense it to make for less scrolling. I think it's definitely headed in the right direction, I'd just like to see it bit more streamlined, condensed, and decluttered

Alright theres a lot to go over lmao

I love and hate this at the same time. But I feel like there is potential here. (keep in mind im on computer only as of right now so it might be different for others)


Lets start with the lionesses page!

I love how you can find a stud right at the lionesses page- and tbh I feel like everything is more neat- but I dont like the lines seperating everything and how the title of the topic isnt boxed in like it is right now.

I love how you can see the equipped decors but I feel like there should be a toggle since it takes up a lot of space

I really dont like the layout of everything. I feel like it should lean a little closer to how it is now.


Theme Page-


I absolutely love these ideas and see nothing wrong with it! Maybe add a reset button to put it back to where it originally was incase the screen glitched out or something

Also sometimes when the notifications up for mobile people it crowds their screen and they cant see anything till they clear them. Maybe add a toggle button for the notifications so its not as bad? Also maybe you should take some votes on messages popping up with the notifications (only one at a time and not lasting long- just to show you what it says)


Landing Page-

Imma be honest I really dont like the landing page at all. It makes me feel like im signing up for something thats going to make me download a game or pay after signing up. I dont know it just feels like every other game.

Something about Lioden is its an extremely unique game and this landing page is not showing this at all. You guys need to take pride in your game and give it the landing page it deserves!

Im not saying to scrap the idea. Thats not it at all. Im saying you need to ditch this screen, and go back to the planning stage. Something about Lioden is that you dont really know what your signing up for. So it definitely needs something to describe to people what it offers. But please dont give it that boring layout I see every other website. Make it bold and scream "Lioden"

Overall-

I think Lioden is an amazing game but it definitely needs some stuff added to the layout. I believe a fresh look is exactly what we need and I know with communication and a few errors we can make it perfect! Dont get discouraged and scrap the idea! I believe this can work.


Other Recommendations-

This game is awesome but theres something that makes me want to not play and its the reason I take long breaks. The feeding and interacting system. There needs to be a way to feed and play with the lions faster. It takes me up to 20 minutes taking care of all of my lions and sometimes life happens and I cant play that long after rolling over. Like one time a surprise storm rolled in and cut my power and connection and I couldnt play the game till the next morning and there was no possible way to take care of my lions.

Another thing is when I am feeding sometimes when I try to go quickly on mobile I click/tap on my kings profile instead of the arrow and end up having to go all the way back to the lion I was feeding. My suggestion is moving clickable links away from the arrows <3

I like the idea of the nursing cubs, I tend to forget to protect them even if they have mutation or special base. Seeing their survival rate on the mother's page seems like a good reminder !

I also like the new 'equipped decorations' system, it looks so much easier than the current one !

For the rest of the lioness page, I'm not a big fan, the current one works well and I like the Hide/Show option we have for less important panels.

The new system for presentation of markings is not needed, I'd rather see all markings at once like now and have the base, eyes, skin, mane etc. on the same box to get a quick access to everything that might interest me for a breeding request.

The Breeding information takes much more space than needed, the current one is perfect. Same thing for the settings and actions.


The two other layout designed do look great though, only the lioness page is overwhelming with boxes everywhere taking up too much space

No please don't. It's so much its overwhelming to look at. There is no overview whatsoever and why would you have pictures off all the decorations? That could be if you press "more" or "details" and now it would be a HUGE hassle to even try to screenshot the into of the lion, markings etc. Everything is too cramped and big. It's stressing to look at

I don't like the scroll bar in the markings on the lioness' page and the page looks too cluttered imo. The side bar is too prominent for me with a lot of font being in bold, i prefer the old side bar.

I'm also not a fan of the overall wider design, it always makes me want to zoom out in my browser as everything seems very close.

I absolutely adore the new layout, but I do have a few criticisms and just general comments to bring up. I cannot explain how much I love it, I think it is a massive upgrade over other previews we have seen and even Wolvden, which I think is far too sharp. Ultimately, I know you can't please everyone, but what I'm stating here has been parroted by a lot of my friends and other users. Bullet points are for readability and are in priority order, at least to me personally, but these are ALL issues that stood out to me.

• It's just too damn long to scroll through on mobile. Could the tabs perhaps be made collapsible on mobile devices, or through a Lioden setting? That way users can choose what to view on mobile and not have to scroll endlessly to get to the lion's settings if they just want to change its name or add something to its biography. As an example, here's what potential categories could be, this could also help users with reading comprehension issues or information processing issues by allowing them to only look at specific sets of information rather than all of the information all at once. It's a very rough preview as I did it with the power of inspect element, but it should be enough to serve as an idea.

• Bring back percentages on the hunger, mood, and experience bar. I cannot accurately guess my percentage based off of bars without the text. To me, 60% and 70% hunger look nearly the same, as would 70% and 80% hunger.

• I don't think it's actually too zoomed in! I definitely think it's the preview being a bit cluttered that's making people think that, but after lining up some screenshots and accounting for the minor difference of the topbar/navbar ending slightly lower than they do on current Lioden, the image is the exact same amount of zoomed in. I took two screenshots to compare, using some inspect element bullshittery to get the alert on Sambina's page to the same size as the Roasted Lamb alert on my main male's page. Current Lioden Lion Page vs Recode Preview Lion Page. As you can see, the image ends at about the same position, and the discrepancy in where it ends can be explained by the topbar ending about... ~10 pixels below where it currently does, same with the navbar. All of this being said, Lioden is definitely way too zoomed in on most devices and it should be zoomed out a bit, I just compared the current amount of zoom to the recode preview and found it's actually not different.

• Why is the FAQ relegated to a tiny link at the bottom of the page rather than where the 'Help' option is on the navbar? Is Help going to link to the FAQ, or is it an entirely new page? If Help links just to the FAQ, I would prefer it to be called 'FAQ', and if Help is going to be something different, I'd like to know what exactly that entails. Maybe making Helpers more relevant again, if so?

• Move the secure lion feature. While it does have a pop up to confirm it, we all know most people mash their way through the pop ups as evidenced by the hundreds of mispriced trades and other incidents that happen despite having pop ups to prevent them. The secure lion feature should stay the same as it is now or should be moved above the kill/reserve/etc. options.

• The Import Lion to Wardrobe feature should be displayed under the marking table for mobile devices, as it being under 'mutation' makes it just spaced out enough to where all appearance data + mut isn't visible on the same scroll.

• PLEASE have the 'Moderators Online' available for everyone. I understand this is there in the preview as the preview is Abbey's account, which is an admin account, and admin accounts can see this information. However, I think it would benefit the community greatly to see how many moderators are online at any given time. The link can be disabled for non admin accounts, or just show a static number like how the date and time panels do at the moment, but I would love to know how many moderators are online at times throughout the day, and I imagine it might help encourage users who are active during low moderation periods to apply knowing how few are on at that given moment.

I do also have a few questions in general, but don't feel rushed to answer them.

- The original October 2020 Dev Update showed Bugbox and the Live Bug Fix Feed coming to Lioden from Wolvden, was that plan scrapped or is it just missing from the preview? I'd be rather disappointed if it was scrapped because I do like Bugbox and the live feed.

- When clicking on the journal in the layout, there is no html editor. Will Journal keep its html editor and html compatibility or will that be lost?

- Are there plans to bring HTML to stud rules with the site recode? Are there also plans to unify all HTML allowed in all text boxes across site, or will forums keep complex HTML while lion bios and other fields allowing HTML keep simple HTML?

aaaand I think that's about all I have to say? Who knows. I might come back to this thread with more later on in the week, but I hope some ideas pointed out here help you guys! I am so excited to see the recode,,, and feel kind of vindicated about my theory that the recent QOL features were maybe preparing for the recode, lol.

First off, I appreciate the effort to make the site more appealing and the work that's put on this game to try and always make it better, and nothing I say is with the intention to come off as rude

Now when it comes to the new lion page... I honestly don't like it, at all
as someone who primarily plays LioDen on the phone and who saw this announcement there, I can say scrolling for what feels like an hour to find the thing I want is painful, and it sure got a pretty bad first impression.

After that I decided to check this on my laptop, which was better but still felt like definitely too much
When I look at my lion I like to see the food and mood % specially when breeding is dependant on it, I don't want to have to be guessing.
The ammount of boxes and information feels too overwhelming, as someone who's been playing this game for almost 10 years now I probably would play way less if this new layout was implemented, it feels like a step back from what we currently have.
It also doesn't feel newcomer-friendly, it that makes sense
Like other people have mentioned there's So Much going on you wouldn't know where to start, as opposed to the current layout that keeps things rather neatly organized.

Now it's not all negatives though, The equipped decorations part having images instead of just the names of the decor is really nice, certainly helps avoid confusion when removing a specific item
Or the section telling about the breeding items used, that's also really nice

But overall I have to say please, PLEASE don¡t change it...
Adding things and fixing some things is great, but this complete overhaul is not the way to go, IMO

Like I said in the beginning though I appreciate all the hard work and all the improvements that have been made throughout the years, but this one just isn't it for me.

Some things feel very counter-intuitive and needlessly more complicated.

Starting at the breeding buttons: autobreed and breed are in separate rows, and together with the rest of the buttons, this section feels cramped. Tbf i love the convenience of having "find a stud" and "reverse breed" buttons on the lionesses page, it's a great addition, but autobreed and breed buttons could both be smaller like they are now and appear in the same row with feed and play like they do now, and the two new buttons could be in the second row below them.

Next, it feels really tedious having to scroll down all the way to the bottom of the page to reveal the fertility. I think the button should stay next to where fertility is displayed or appear as a 4th button on the right. It would also fill up that awkward space.

Appearance - i think separating everything into sections feels needlessly more complicated on the eyes. It's very busy and visually i hate how the markings box is longer and not aligned with everything else on the left side. If possible, keeping everything together in one box like it is now and implementing a scroll bar for markings would be just fine, even though i don't think a scroll bar is ever necessary to begin with. The add marking slot button should also be in this section.

As for decors, i think seeing pics is handy, but when there's like 10 decors, i bet the page would extend even further, so maybe this section could be collapsible? Or hidden like under a spoiler tag. So that if we want to see all the images, we click on the section to open it up and then we can close it again so as not to cramp the page and have even more needless scrolling.

Personally i never cared for lioness' hunting stats, but i like that the nursing cubs and the stats are in one place, it saves up some space. However, visually i hate that the boxes aren't aligned. I personally wish that both of these sections could be collapsible (like the hide/show option we currently have) so that it wouldn't take up space cuz it gets extensive with 5 cubs. Also, where is the remove protection button? I think it's necessary and should be in the same section with the cubs, not separated at the bottom with the other buttons.

The settings section is reaaaally far away, and i also like being able to hide/show it. Since i don't ever write anything in the biography box, it would be very convenient to collapse this box alone. the rest of the settings don't need to be hidden, it's just the bio box that takes up a lot of space and is very unnecessary for someone who doesn't use it at all. The roles could also stay in one line instead of forming a list, would save some space.

A general observation regarding the layout itself is that each section is very spaced out and far from each other, and i can't understand why. It doesn't accomplish anything imo, just makes the page huge and forces needless scrolling. The game is already very tedious in some aspects, and having to scroll these pages would make it even worse.

The king's stats do feel very busy with all the colors as well. I think having a unified color for all stats is more pleasant on the eyes. I like the sidebar a lot though. One thing i'm missing is the "view your cooldowns" button.

Someone in here said the font lacks flavor/personality, and i agree. While it doesn't necessarily look bad, it's kinda generic. I feel like lioden deserves a fun font to match the african theme n all that.

I feel like the old layout could be kept and improved upon by updating the button design, changing the font, the colors, instead of making a completely new layout that is much less convenient. As many have said, we may support the looks of lioden changing to look more modern and appealing, but we also like the layout as it is now. Not all of it needs to change in order to be more favorable.
