Bad luck. I need the Transvaal and keep getting the Katanga instead. Before being assigned the Transvaal I was seeing both. The RNG knows what it's doing.

@ E-quagga even when I didn't have the quest (after I gave it up) I still never saw him. RNG hates me rn :(

It's the same every year. You'll see that one encounter 50 times before you ever actually need it. Sure, I'll go through more energy items on the first quest. It's only been 7 hours.

Last edit now that I'm far less angry: in my experience, the likelihood of any encounter sinks like a lead brick the minute you need it. I can't count how many times I've run into the graveyard hyenas, but once I get that quest, it can take hours for them to show up. All I can really say is that hyena butter might help if only to cut down on non-needed lioness encounters. (Anything else though? Good luck.) It's not much, but it's better than nothing.

@crowdazzle I finally got the encounter for the first time after five days. Before that, I had not seen it on either account, at all. My luck was TERRIBLE with it. Eventually, though, it showed up, and now I see it at least once a day. It's weird.

Ah, every year we go again. I dread this months quest, because year after year it's the same frustration. I meet Kalahari, Tsavo and the others countless times with 1 single energy bar.
Except when I have the quest to find them. Then they won't turn up. Like unicorns.
