Dwarfism/hybrids don't bother me because they have the same lifespan as a nonmutated lion & can be kinged, so the mutation as it's presented ingame doesn't impact their QOL much.
I don't really like how a lot of the playerbase treats lethals, though, especially since many of the ingame lethal mutations can also be found in humans- it also feels really tone-deaf to call them cute, given that they're literally dying :/

They're just pixels to me, so it doesn't bother me. With the way they exist in game I consider it to be similar to having knick-knacks and trinkets irl. Mutations as a whole are generally more coveted in a game like this, so I think it causes people to see things which would ordinarily be "bad" as something cool or cute. For the most part, the art isn't overly morbid, and by using a Jellyfish on them it makes them a decoratable collectible of sorts.

@Tsukii I don't think that's what they mean at all; players interact differently with mutations ingame than they do in real life. They're certainly not saying it's good to see a mutation as cute/not a bad thing to have a painful condition.

Tsukii, I don't think that any part of my post implied that I thought it was good for cats/lions/humans/anything as being good if mutated irl. It's specifically the fact that, in game, they're NOT real and are NOT in real distress that I am not bothered by it.

I don't think people are saying that lethals are cute because they are dying, rather appreciating the artists of lioden. They deserve to be cute just like all other cubs. I think that it shows respect to death and the mutation the way that people keep them, value them highly, and decorate with expensive decor.

The opposite side of how lethals are treated in game would be letting them die without freezing, calling them gross, etc.

99% of lethals are not living, they are frozen. theyre also pixels, so they arent alive, and dont feel pain. people are allowed to enjoy them and find them cute or beautiful. i think having lethals in this game brings an aspect to the game that keeps it real to the world of life and death. and that is beautiful. and lethals are cute! and deserve to be just as appreciated as any other lion.
