Hi all! This is my first forum post, so I hope I am doing this in the right place haha! I've been playing Lioden on and off for around a year, and while I hyperfixated on it at first, lately, my time has felt a tad...aimless. Now that I'm back, I've been enjoying it, don't get me wrong, but when I first started, I was obsessed with gussying up my rolled king, but once that was done, my interest began to wane. My goal then was to just try and mass breed to get cool lions, which has left my territory sorely bloated and difficult to take care of, which then lead me to take a long hiatus from the game because it was too much lol. Now that I'm back, I've become interested in the idea of a "dream king", but as I would still say I'm fairly new, I keep flip-flopping on how I want to approach the planning. All I do know is that I want to have that goal to be working towards again, and with designing and working towards a dream king, I feel like I can also learn more about the game mechanics and culture as I do. I'm not necessarily looking for actual advice, because I know that most advice I get will just be to "do what you want and think is fun!", which is very kind and I appreciate, but doesn't really help since I'm so lost lol! Right now, I'm just trying to get some different perspectives on how others have gone about choosing their kings, so please feel free to let me know! The following questions both apply to your current king and a future king if you are working towards one, btw ![]() 1. Do you prefer to plan out the details of your king and stick to that plan, or are you more flexible with your king's appearance? 2. How do you decide on the marks you want for your king? Do you prefer markings that are considered valuable, or do you go based off of the way they look? 3. If your king has a special base, do you prefer to have your markings compliment or emphasize your base, or do you like the markings to take center stage? 4. If you choose to lab test frog for a queen, do you pay much mind to your mane? (When I had a queen before, I completely forgot to pay attention to it lol) 5. Lastly, what are some of your favorite bases or markings (because I am curious haha! My last queen had fiery quail flecks that I adored, and that marking is still very much alive and well in my pride lol) If there is any other information you would like to share, please let me know - I genuinely just want to try and get a grasp of as many different perspectives as I can before I start really planning my dream king since I do not want to burn out again haha! 1. I usually just wait till my king is like 10-11 till I focus on getting an heir, and then I'll plan out his base and marks in wardrobe and aim to get that, possibly saving gb in my bundles for later. 2. I personally don't really mind and just care about the looks, but a lot of my kings have rosettes and have BO markings! 3. I like the markings to compliment the base, gives some challenge 4. Not really, I just decide its a queen now ![]() 5. My favourite bases are moss agate and harvest moon, I love the colours- and the marks I'm unsure of, just anything that is easy to blend in and give variety to a lion's base in general I'm not very good at advice-ing at all. Maybe try get a grasp of how much your dream heir would actually cost to make too ![]() |

@Fancy fork - The cost is the part that has me scared lol. That and whenever I go into the wardrobe to plan my dream heir, I just stare at all of the options like ![]() ![]() And I think I'm leaning towards markings to compliment the base also! I really like the idea of working towards either Dawn or Ogdoad, and if that were the direction I wanted to go, I wouldn't want to cover them up too much I think. Ty for your response! ![]() |

1. Do you prefer to plan out the details of your king and stick to that plan, or are you more flexible with your king's appearance? most of the time, i plan out what type of king i want but right now im starting to make my heir, i hate how hard the breed projects are to get your dream heir (its not bad to do, i just find it hard to me), so i have a plan to make him though its going to take a bit, so i can't count that, but i start to look for my new heir when my king is 12 to 13 or sometimes 14 and i look for the style i am in a mood for, sometimes its for a darker mood or sometimes its a good bright mood, i am hoping one day to find my dream heir 2. How do you decide on the marks you want for your king? Do you prefer markings that are considered valuable, or do you go based off of the way they look? i see how markings can be valuable but i look for more style and looks of the heir and how the marks look on him and/ or on the cubs 3. If your king has a special base, do you prefer to have your markings compliment or emphasize your base, or do you like the markings to take center stage? i like the markings to take center stage because it adds more style and color to the lion then the base would ever 4. If you choose to lab test frog for a queen, do you pay much mind to your mane? (When I had a queen before, I completely forgot to pay attention to it lol) no unless its a mane i don't like or i can change the mane 5. Lastly, what are some of your favorite bases or markings (because I am curious haha! My last queen had fiery quail flecks that I adored, and that marking is still very much alive and well in my pride lol) i liked Sahara, Outlaw, Haze, Sunrise, Locust, Labradorite, Frostbitten, Green, bases and for markings i really like any Feralis, any Maofelis, Nimravus, Okapi, Zebra, and king cheetah markings too ![]() |

1. Do you prefer to plan out the details of your king and stick to that plan, or are you more flexible with your king's appearance? - When it comes to just breeding for markings I tend to stick to a plan, but if its something like a special base (Dawn) I plan an appearance, but won't turn away something that looks really nice. 2. How do you decide on the marks you want for your king? Do you prefer markings that are considered valuable, or do you go based off of the way they look? - Back when I was really active I use to collect really rare slot markings and breed with the goal of getting them on a king just to spread that. Not only gave myself a goal, but also could give my king a unique look in the process. - I mostly go off what I like rather than value. If I can't make the marking work on the king I just don't use it regardless. 3. If your king has a special base, do you prefer to have your markings compliment or emphasize your base, or do you like the markings to take center stage? - I think it depends on the markings, some of them you can't help but let them take center stage (Feline 7). So if I was to get a marking like that then I would pivot so the other markings compliment it or lower the opacity of it. 4. If you choose to lab test frog for a queen, do you pay much mind to your mane? (When I had a queen before, I completely forgot to pay attention to it lol) - If its part of a project then I care, but most times I wouldn't care since you can't see it in this case. 5. Lastly, what are some of your favorite bases or markings (because I am curious haha! My last queen had fiery quail flecks that I adored, and that marking is still very much alive and well in my pride lol) - I've been absent from the game for a while so I don't know many of the new markings or bases, but from when I did play my faves were. Ebony, Haze, Maroon, Cinnabar, Fiery, Dawn, Festive, Spectre, Lilac, Madagascar, Onyx White Lace, White Invert Zebra, Vit 5, Celestial Speckles, Feline 8 & 9, Margay, Panther Sometimes if Im not doing a project and need a king I tend to use cubs that remind me of some of my older kings to give the vibe of them being an heir to the markings. So if you peep through my past kings you'll see II, III, IV etc its because those kings come from or share enough markings with its predecessor. ![]() |
