Deerwalkers: The opposite of Wolfwalkers. There are two different types.

Cervidae: Can change shape into deer at any time without having to leave behind their human bodies- much like werewolves minus the requirement of the full moon. These are typically more powerful than their counterpart

Sapien: When their awake, they are almost completely human, however when they are asleep their spirits rise out of their human body and become a deer. This means they either have to carry their human bodies around or leave them behind to go anywhere.

While these two forms somewhat differ, they both are worshipped by humans the same. They are seen as defenders and guardians of the forest, wishing peace towards everything around them. While they don’t often travel into human villages, they are always welcomed with open arms. They are usually only seen to request help, and if searched out they will often assist humans to gain their trust.

These ideologies couldn’t be further from the truth. In reality, they despise everything that breathes, and are actively working to wipe out their only competition: Wolfwalkers. They will do whatever it takes to kill a Wolfwalker, including killing any living humans around them. They pretend to have extreme patience, but WILL kill anyone who pisses them off in a quick, sneaky way- usually by luring them out into the forest. They will then claim the human was killed by a wolf or a wolfwalker. Once the wolfwalkers are dead, the humans will likely go next, followed by everything else that simply tries to survive.

A small party of adventurers wandered through the swamps outside of (untitled city). They had heard word of a large beast wandering the marsh, hunting down and killing any human that wanders unsuspectingly into it's territory. They continued to search through the mud and muck, their shoes and boots squelching against the ground. As they wandered they began to notice something strange, the sounds of the swamp- or the lack thereof. No beasts were calling out into the night, no crickets or owls to be heard and no fireflies in sight. The group continues wandering on, cautious and fearful.

They never even saw it coming. A massive beast, it's mane and tail the color of algae and it's body a pure black to help itself blend into the nearby dark waters of the lake in the darkness, approaching the party silently as it's hooved feet sunk into the marshland and pulling up and forwards to take a step without a sound. It slowly opened it's jaws as it stepped forwards, then began to let out a horrifying, loud noise. A loud, deep humming rumble that echoed through the trees, frightening the party of adventurers before it, causing them to turn and draw their weapons with shouts to eachother. This was exactly what the creature wanted.

It now snapped it's bony jaws shut, a loud sound ringing out like the crackling of thunder as a bright light sparked from it's maw, stunning the party. It then charged forwards, it's massive stature towering over even a large dragon. It now threw it's head down, snapping up the stunned and frightened party members, seeing them only as it's next meal. When it was finished, it turned and headed back towards it's lair to rest and prepare for another day of hunts and tricky tactics.
