Nettlesnap 'Well thank Starclan for that..' The tom muttered under his breath sarcastically, deciding against snapping back this time. If it was any other cat he'd be more then willing to argue, but the leader? He wasn't trying to get himself kicked out. He bit his tongue as he listened, eyes narrowing. Oh, like Morningecho or any of the older warriors would agree with that. The fur on the back of his neck stood on end and he would've lashed out if It wasn't for his need to remain in this clan. He wasn't necessarily mad at Owlstar, just what he was saying. He couldn't read the older cat's emotion and it prevented him from knowing what to say, he could do nothing other then hate him for it. The tom hissed uncertainly, mind going blank as he searched for any kind of retort to make. In the face of conflict he glared at the leader and backed away. Was this helpful criticism? He couldn't tell. It wasn't exactly helpful. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 08/02/24 @ 12:44:06 by Fancy fork [Cutlery] (#427147) |

Palewind Her ears were flat against her head now though she wasn’t arguing she knew better than that.” Mhm.” Was all she could muster out towards the leader she wasn’t moving yet, rather she was waiting for him to be done talking so she could go over analyze and overthink what the leader was saying. She glanced over at Nettlesnap, she couldn’t tell what the Tom was thinking. She began to wonder why Owlstar felt the need to tell them that they weren’t in trouble because they weren’t born into the clans. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Nettlesnap The tom growled softly and walked away, his tail lashing stiffly behind him. He paused for just a moment to see what Palewind was doing before slinking into the warrior's den, fur still damp from the pouring rain. Nettlesnap rushed into a nest after checking the stick foundation of the roof for the best place to rest rain-free, sitting down and trying to see through the cracks for what happened next. It wouldn't be long till the rest of the clan blood warriors settled In as well and he wasn't quite looking forward to it. Was Palewind going to follow? He lowers his ears to his head and steps on his tail, breathing slowly because of the humid air that felt thick to inhale. He debated on just staying outside tonight, as the warmth and breathing of the clan cats always made him feel uneasy for some reason he couldn't pin. He'd never been the cat to fall asleep first, he tended to wait until the others drifted off, then he could be safe. Morning echo hadn't slept much the past few days though, he'd know. But it was still a mystery if she stayed up the whole night or not, since he always falls asleep eventually.. Morning echo was an odd cat. And he definitely wasn't going to get to know her enough to change that opinion. Her and a few other felines hadn't given off the best impression and it was terrifying being near them. He found it much, much easier to defend himself with someone else on his side, as bad as that sounded in his head. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Gentlebreeze "Than that's settled." Toby suddenly mewed, curling up again. "I'd do anything to make you happy, Gentlebreeze." he purred, and she licked his cheek affectionately. A soft hum came from Gentlebreeze as she purred. She felt his fluffy tail on her side and she mrrowed happily. The feline lowered her head slowly, as to not disturb Toby. She pressed her muzzle into his fur, and she felt him snuggle closer. Gentlebreeze's soft blue eyes drooped now, sometimes fluttering closed. "I love you." she whispered quietly, before watching the rain. The rhythmic beat of the rainfall on the object above soothed her. The warmth shared between the two cats was comforting. Gentlebreeze couldn't imagine a life without Toby, not anymore. If Owlstar demanded Toby to be chased out, she wouldn't be scared to snap at the leader. Usually she was timid about speaking to the leader and deputy, but she would do anything to secure Toby's place in her clan. It was hard to be a medicine cat. Forbidden to have a mate or kits. She never liked that rule, she admitted that she did envy the Queens in the clan. They had beautiful kits and a loving mate. Gentlebreeze could always feel her throat tightening when she watched the families. Aureum A rain drop fell on her forehead, and she almost tumbled off the fence. Her housefolk had already gone inside, shutting the door. She heard a familiar click. The click that meant her door was locked. Aureum jumped down from the wooden fence, her bell tinkling. The kittypet sniffed the door. She raised a paw, batting at the door. It didn't budge. The young feline stood up against the door, pushing. To no avail, it didn't budge. She mewed loudly, pawing at the door. Aureum stayed there for a couple more moments. Her housefolk still didn't respond. The kittypet mewed loudly in desperation. The rain was heavy now, splattering against the hardstone. Her kitten fur was puffed out in an attempt to get warmer, but the thin hair did nothing to protect her from the freezing breeze and the splash of ice-cold water. Perhaps she could go to Toby's nest? No. He would be inside... Warm, cozy, and laying with his twolegs. The young feline shivered uncontrollably. The roof above was sparse, and didn't provide much coverage. Aureum cried out, desperate mews coming out of her. repost and added aureum's part )) 0 players like this post! Like? |

The thought of ever acting like that towards a leader was truly a baffling concept. At least Palewind looked remorseful for her actions, and wasn't trying to deflect like an apprentice who gets caught putting burrs in nests. Since when was acting like that acceptable? There was standing up for yourself, and then there was... whatever Nettlesnap was doing. Poor Owlstar. Not only did he have to deal with becoming a leader, but he had to deal with the responsibilities that came with it; especially the not so good ones. Was it a worthy trade? Who knows. Well, there was no use thinking too hard on it - even if Hemlockshade would probably keep doing it; the rain was about to soak through the thick outer layer of his fur. Then he'd be soaking wet, and plain miserable; not that he was joyful to begin with. "Time to head inside, before somecat gets sick." He nudges Owlstar, motioning towards the leaders den. "Can't have our leader catching a cold, now can we?" Though the mention of sickness made him wonder where Gentlebreeze was. Collecting herbs didn't take that long surely; and she seemed smart enough to know when to turn back home. Perhaps she had found shelter somewhere in the territory and would return once it stopped raining? Though that could take awhile. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Owlstar He watched Nettlesnap stalk away to the warrior's den, and attempt to find a dry spot to rest. Had he been a little hard on the tom? The more he thought about the issue, however, the more he was certain that his decision had been the right one. He was using the tools he had available. He shook a few raindrops from his thick pelt, before making his way over to the freshkill pile. Somecat, probably Henlockshade had made sure to protect it from the rain, and Owlstar made sure to carefully replace the bark covering as he grabbed a piece of beaver meat, and one of the frogs he had caught earlier. He hadn't eaten much that day, and he was pretty hungry. It seemed most cats were forgoing the beaver in favor of getting out of the rain, including Hemlockshade, who seemed eager to get somewhere dry. Hemlockshade nudged him towards the leader's den, and Owlstar smiled. His friend had always looked out for him, even over something as simple as a cold. "It's not like I have 8 lives to spare", Owlstar said with a purr. Morningecho might dislike him talking about his lives like this, but he knew his friend wasn't nearly as serious. " You should probably hole up too, I'm almost certain it's going to be pretty stormy for a while." Owlstar slipped inside his den, placing the prey on one of the small roots that jutted out from the rocky hollow that made up his den. His den was large enough for three cats to fit comfortably, made from a tangle of roots that had managed to get in between a few large boulders. It had taken some work, covering any holes with moss, bark and brambles, but he had gotten the den comfortable and warm. With his prey placed somewhere secure, Owlstar turned his focus to drying out his pelt. It hadn't got too soaked, but it needed a little grooming. Toby He had finally drifted off, snuggled against Gentlebreeze as the sounds of rain falling provided a soft noise in the background as he basked in their shared warmth. He shifted slightly as he slept, his dreams filled with large fields of soft green grass, as he and Gentlebreeze chased little butterflies through the meadow, a couple small kittens bumbling along behind them. The sun in his dreams was bright and warm, and the sky was a deep, beautiful blue, unmarked by even the slightest cloud. It was peaceful in his dream, quiet and safe. If he joined the clan, that all would soon change. But Toby wanted to stay with Gentlebreeze, and someday have a chance at the life he saw in his dreams. He had stirred slightly, but settled back down as his dreams faded into a much deeper sleep, as the sun sunk ever lower in the sky. 0 players like this post! Like? Mudpaw Mudpaw laid in his nest, deep in thought about what happened moments ago. He didn't know Hawktalon had a half-brother, he wasn't expecting it, maybe that's why Owlstar let this stranger inside the camp because it was Hawktalons kin? He also wondered why this stranger had not been able to complete his training and receive the name of a warrior. Mudpaw felt fear that he might not be able to become a warrior like that stranger too, mother will not be proud… Not only that, but he wanted to ask Owlstar personally about Hawktalons half-brother, but the heavy rain stopped him from doing so, and now he is stuck together with Cicadapaw inside the apprentice den. He sharply flicked his tail in annoyance and his mood turned sour as things did not go the way he wanted it to be. 0 players like this post! Like? |

"If you lose a life from a cold, I won't let you forget." A quiet, raspy purr of amusement rumbles briefly in Hemlockshade's throat before he turns away, heading for the warriors den. He's not too keen on getting more wet then what he currently is. As he walks, he casts a short glance at the fresh kill pile, before deciding to forgo it. He wasn't too hungry, feeling like he was too wet to enjoy a meal. He'd have to replace his moss nest most likely if it got too wet. Moss was only good when it was fresh. Wringing it out and then letting it dry just wasn't the same. He enters the warriors den and stops to give his fur a few brisk strokes with his sandpaper tongue; having enough sense to not drip water everywhere. Then he's settling into his nest, finishing the rest of his groom, not allowing his fur the glance to soak up the water and leave him shivering to the bone. - Cicadapaw let's out a 'eep' as the first raindrops begin to fall, whipping around and scurrying into the apprentice den. Yuck. Rain. Not a fan. And her thin coat meant she got wet alot faster. She had already wasted a day after eating bad prey, she didn't want to get sick and be confined to the den any longer. Despite the rain, she couldn't help but feel a bit restless. Perhaps it was the unease of knowing that a stranger was in camp that left her feeling like she couldn't leave her guard down; or maybe she didn't want to be confined to the den after having already been in there all day. Her tail flicks ad she thinks, but eventually she retreats to her nest with a sullen sigh, head hanging over the edge; ears pricked as she listens to the sound of rain. Suddenly her stomach rumbles, reminding her that she hadn't eaten. She peeks outside, deciding to take that chance. She's fast! She'll zip over, hrsb something and run back in before the rain can even touch her! Of course that was impossible, but it hyped her up nonetheless. "Hey Mudpaw." She turns to the tom, offering politely. "Do you want anything to eat? Owlstar said we could enjoy the beaver, if you want some. I could grab it for us?' 0 players like this post! Like? |

Mudpaw He was so focused on the stranger that he forgot to eat, now that Cicadapaw asked him. He felt hungry. Furthermore, he lifted his small head and turned towards Cicadapaw. Surprised by her 'way' of getting them fed. “What…? So you're going to casually just go outside and take the beaver while it's RAINING? I couldn't afford to get you sick again. Owlstar will surely find out and punish us!” He scolded her. He stood up and his eyes still focused on Cicadapaw. ”You easily get sick and i'm not, ill do it!” Mudpaw doesn't like to get his fur soaked, but he doesn't want the same for Cicadapaw either. 0 players like this post! Palewind The she cat sat alone for a moment her ears still pinned against her head as her thoughts became broken from the sound of muffled chatter from her clanmates as they moved towards their dens. She sighed deeply beginning to wonder if joining the clan had been the right decision for her. She thought so but did others? Her tail twitched and she rose to her paws shaking out her wet fur before almost sulking off to the warriors den. When there she plopped into her nest and leg herself get lost in her thoughts before glancing at Nettlesnap. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Hawktalon As she felt the rain coming, she looked at Sootpaw. "Looks like we may have to wait on the out of camp duties for a while. But, I'll show you around the camp regardless, and get you a temporary nest in the nursery since we don't have any kits." She reassured him. Leading the way to the nursery, she showed him the surprisingly roomy den. "We haven't gotten to fortify it yet. But hopefully it will keep you dry." As she looked at Sootpaw, he looked like he was lost in thought. "Sootpaw?" Sootpaw He brought his attention back to Hawktalon and what she was showing him. "Ah, sorry. Regardless, I'll be perfectly fine in here." He flicked his missing ear as a drop of rain dropped on it. "I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable." He said, giving a look of care but underneath, he still held a small grudge towards his sister. Their mother would still be alive if Hawktalon would've stayed, if Hawktalon could've put the clan before herself. At least that's how he saw it. He listened to her words as she gave him a tour around the camp, but couldn't understand why she had decided to be loyal to Owlstar instead. He may bring it up later, but it was gnawing at him. As they passed the other cats, he gave a glance at the apprentices. His golden gaze wasn't welcoming, but it wasn't like he was trying to be scary. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Mudpaw Before Cicadapaw can react. Mudpaw was already at the entrance, he dipped his small head out maintaining a safe length from the outside where there was still cover so he wouldn't be touched by the rain, then he cautiously looked around. Great! No one around! Of course no one is around, it's raining! He just needed to get to the fresh-kill pile, grab the beaver, and take it to inside the den. Cicadapaw must be a mouse-brain for even thinking about this, but they're both starving, they can't just go outside the apprentice den earlier while Owlstar is with Hawktalons half-brother that certainly would be awkward given how her half-brother looked at them at least that's what Mudpaw imagined. Surely no one would notice his small figure in the rain and even if Owlstar found out about this, maybe he'll understand… Right? He braced himself while eyeing the beaver in the pile, in a few heartbeats. He quickly ran towards the pile, mudpaw suddenly felt a chill down his spine when the rain tapped his fur as he made his way, and before he even realized it. He was completely drenched, but he finally reached the pile. I did it. He started feeling cold, but his hunger and the fact that Cicadapaw was waiting for him made Mudpaw silently endure. Mudpaw bit the beaver and struggled to drag it away from the pile, as he continuously dragged it. The beaver grew heavier and heavier for Mudpaw to hold. He can feel his strength slolwy go away as he move forward. He felt quite dizzy as he gets more colder, fortunately Mudpaw was able to get back to the den with the beaver. However, he was completely wet. He did not have the strength to utter a single word. Mudpaw was continuously trembling and shivering from the cold. (Well, who's the mouse-brain now ) 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 09/02/24 @ 03:55:42 by Reave (#463770) |

Nettlesnap Hm. The tom watched the apprentice, curiosity hinting at his gaze. What were they doing? He frowned as the beaver's waterproof pelt glinted through the light. They were taking it. Was that allowed? He leans his head to one side, gaze lining up with one of the holes in the twigs. Nettlesnap drops his head to his paws and rasps his tongue over his drenched fur, resisting a shudder whenever the cold touched his skin. It took him a minute or two but he eventually realised Palewind was there. He forced his back fur to flatten, stopping himself from giving into the it hibg temptation to shake water off his scruff of a coat. The tom glances at her, eyes trailing over the she's tensed form. 'You okay?' He lowers his head and spoke in a hushed tone, tilting his head quizzically. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 09/02/24 @ 12:15:00 by Fancy fork [Cutlery] (#427147) |

"Don't be silly." Cicadapaw shakes her head, thinking him to be a bit silly. "Owlstar wouldn't be upset if somecat got sick. Maybe if it was for a ridicu-" Oh. In the midst of her talking, Mudpaw was already leaving the den. She blinks, before settling on her haunches. Well, if he insisted, she supposed that was fine. The thought was a nice one, that she could admit. Though really, it wasn't like being out of the den for a few heartbeats would've been too bad. Her jaw positively drops when he returns, hauling the whole beaver with him. Oh dear Starclan. "We didn't need the whole beaver!" She jumps up, slightly horrified. That was enough for the entire clan. There was no way they could just grab it like it was a mouse or bird. However she refrains from scolding him since he's dripping wet, and had certainly seen better days. "Oh Mudpaw." She sighs, hurrying to his side, pressing her fur against him, ignoring his wet coat, attempting to share her body heat. She immediately directs him to his nest, and helps warm him up by licking his fur backwards. He does look like an overgrown burr for a moment there, but at least he's not soaking wet. "Stay right here." She says, attempting to sound firm. Walking over to the beaver, she tears off several strips for them to share; setting it down infront of the other. Now's the problem of getting it back. They couldn't, after all, take the entire beaver. It's raining harder then it was before, but Cicadapaw scurries out that, using the strength in her hind legs to haul it back to the fresh kill pile. Then she tugs the covering back over it before heading back into the apprentice den. She's wet, which is twice the number of cats then necessary. "Phew." She plops down; quickly grooming herself the way she had done to Mudpaw a few minutes ago. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Mudpaw Mudpaw was half-asleep when he finally returned to his senses, it's cold but not as intense as before. He can manage, and the first thing he saw was a drenched Cicadapaw in front of him. “Oh no, no, not you too. We're both soaked. Owlstars going to slice our throats.” He nervously muttered. “Don't worry, I'll them I did it, I was the one who went outside and took the beaver after all” He assured her. Mudpaw searched for the beaver, but it was only the strips left, which was enough to fill their hungry bellies, he guessed that Cicadapaw returned it to the fresh kill pile considering what he saw earlier. Mudpaw ears flattened, his head turned low. “Sorry I dragged you in this Cicadapaw, I shouldn't have acted on impulse” Mudpaw felt bad now, he should've just took a small amount or maybe just waited for the rain to end. 0 players like this post!
