What would you do if you were locked in a tiny concrete box, as part of the government's new 'Sanity Tests'? Would you be able to make it out without losing your mind? Or will the dark secrets that live in the shadows take over? Will you be categorized as one of Sane, or will you be thrown into the darkness with your fellow Insanes.

On the surface level, the Sanity Tests seem like a good thing the authorities are doing to find those who may need help. Sure, being thrown into a concrete room doesn't seem like it's all that productive, as it tends to cause those who were previously Sane, to fall to their own insecurities. By the time they're released they've become Insane. But the darkness runs deeper than in a person's own mind. Are the dark things you witness, truly just created of your own mind, or is it something more? Something real created to make you think you're Insane. Created to drive you to Insanity. Is the government really trying to be helpful, or are they the ones causing this epidemic of Insanity.

Something changed some five years back. People no longer see the world as it is anymore. A sort of 'disease' (as some have labeled it) is clouding the minds of seemingly regular people. Some call it a disease, others a demon, some even consider it aliens. There appears to be no pattern among cases, with only one thing to tie them together. They see living shadows and monsters of terrible proportions that no one else has any idea are there. But the strange thing is, these monsters aren't only created by a person's mind. They can interact with the real world. They can tear down houses, cause traffic jams, and some have even killed. The government, in an effort to root out these destructive beings, have decided to run Sanity Tests to find who among the population is seeing these creatures. Their hope, that by isolating these people, the monsters won't have anything to hurt.

But, there's another side to it as well. The authorities want to learn about these monsters. The only way they appear is when an Insane conjures them up from their mind. Most of the time, these monsters are too unstable to be properly tested on, and they vanish before anything can be done. So, the government and found a way to create these monsters themselves. Using strange new technologies that not only allow them to see the individualized monsters of the Insane, they have found ways to cause the dreaded Insanity.
