- My personal minimum post length is two paragraphs, but I can and often do write more. As long as you’re engaging and giving me something to reply to, I’m not concerned about length-matching at all.

Genre(s): Western / post-apocalyptic - dystopian / sci-fi

In the future, a series of severe meteorological events have wiped out the majority of human civilization as we know it, populations decimated and cities in ruins. In the power vacuum that follows, groups of like-minded climate scientists step up to fill the void, desperate to mitigate the climate devastation going forward. Unfortunately, a vast swath of the world has become entirely uninhabitable, beyond saving, and they must focus on what they can do to salvage what remains for future generations.

A plan is hatched amongst them: a livable world within a desolate one, with impenetrable walls and a synthetic sky, with controlled weather and even more tightly controlled advancement. What has happened can never be allowed to happen again.

Hundreds of years into the future, the world looks very different, but very familiar all the same—for the last few centuries, the world has effectively been frozen in something that resembles 1880, and the Wild West has effectively risen again. The technological landscape that had once defined humanity is all but gone, education has been severely limited, and knowledge of the events of the past have been effectively wiped from living memory. What little memory remains is dismissed as mad ramblings. Life goes on, largely lawless, desolate and wild, but everything is fine.

But is it just me, or has the sky looked a little… wrong, lately?

What if Prohibition never ended, but extended to cover additional vices to a debilitating degree? Life’s pleasures are now used as a form of currency, and can be used to buy just about anything, if the seller is willing—including information.

The Agency for Restricted Contraband (“ARC”), has had good reason to try and keep such tight control over as many vices as they can: an ever-growing vampire threat to the unknowing populous. Their attempt to keep citizens on the straight and narrow is an attempt to keep them away from situations where they might become easy prey for these nocturnal supernatural predators.

The two factions, Agent and vampire alike, engage in the time-honoured tradition of spying and trading goods for information to try and get the upper hand, but things are rapidly spinning out of control and coming to a head.

How much longer can things remain peaceful when both sides want the other annihilated?
