Hello everyone!

I am kinda new to the game (less than a week I believe) and I am currently trying my best to grind it. I am mostly playing it for breeding purposes and future selling, but if I actually end up enjoying the community, I will probably get even more involved.

Anyway, I am slightly confused about kings and I need some advice. I am aware I can retire my starter quite early (which would be great), but I am actually just (almost) 3 levels apart from becoming a Dreamboat and the thought of having to start over is a pain. My submale, Kindred, would be the Heir. He doesn't have the greatest stats, but definitely better genetics than my current starter King. (Kindred has a Crested Celestial mane, a few T3 markings and a T2 Marking Feline 9 Noctis which shows up on him around 73%).

I do have a few teen lionesses that I managed to buy/adopt which have some cool genetics (I got lucky with one who has around 3 T2 markings, Uncommon Genetics, Elysian Mane etc), but the thought of constantly having to stud is a pain and the thought of breeding them to my starter King kinda hurts.

Another option would be to just grind in events and apply different markings to him (I already got a Blush Rose base Applicator and a Mane one, currently working on getting some markings), but I don't know if this will help my current situation that much.

What would be some good advice for the future? Trying to grind GB and retire him early, starting over with my sub male or just keeping my starter king and working on customising him with as many rare applicators I can get my hands on?

Thank you for any future replies ^^

Welcome to the game :) I hope you have a great time while you're here!

The advice I give regarding kings is to choose something that will produce cubs that YOU like, regardless of marking tiers and such. Some people enjoy colorbombs, some people like tons of breed-only, and some people just care about their lion's base. Special bases are typically more popular than rares, which are more popular than uncommons. Though if your lion's base is a combo factor (shown on the right side) it can bump his value up. The current "meta" heavily favors short or no heritage, so if you plan to sell studdings to your male, it might be best to keep the starter king and pretty him up a bit.

February is one of the best months to start on Impression, since so many encounters give more Impression than the rest of the year, so I'd recommend replacing your starter king this month if you really don't want to be stuck with him (but you should try to get to Dreamboat before Friday so you can enter the Special Lioness raffle this week). You can also collect speckled pigeons (found in explore this month) and craft them into Dove Feasts to hang onto later in the year, which will help increase your Impression in the slower months. Don't use them at a level below Very Impressive, as that's around the time the amount you get from claiming lions and battling enemies gets pretty low. In earlier Impression levels such as Not Impressive, you get between 4-6(?)% Impression progress per battle/claim, while it becomes 2-3% per battle/claim at higher levels. Dove Feasts give a flat 20% per feast, so it'll make it much easier to get through those lower levels.

In order to have more territory space to claim lions (and then re-chase once they are off cooldown, so that you have space to keep claiming) you should battle other players' kings for territory! Here is a guide to gaining more territory without spending SB. I don't usually recommend using energy for anything other than exploring in February, but the sooner you get your maximum 40 free territory spaces, the better! :D February is one of the best months for profiting, so if you can gather as many Heart Shells as you can and turn them into Buffalo Scrotums, Yohimbe Barks, and Lion Scrotums, those will sell very well in the upcoming months. Then you can use that currency to buy other apps for your lions, if you wish! You can sell those items now for a bit of profit, but it's not nearly as lucrative as waiting even just a few months.

I apologize if I went on a tangent - been typing more in short bursts so maybe I forgot what I was saying a few times x) If you have any questions, don't hesitate to PM me! I'd be more than happy to help you out more.

That's actually kinda helpful. I am slowly learning to navigate around.

Thank you!
