The air was thick and hot, and the animals of the savanna had taken shelter in whatever shade they could find. Some were brave enough to go to the watering hole, but it did little to help, as the water was warm as well.

She nested lazily in the shade of the only tree that was less than a mile to the watering hole. She watched the few animals come and go from the water, her tail swinging. Every now and then, a breeze would bless those who were close to overheating, even though the air was hot. There wasn't a cloud in sight.

Gold was running around joyfully, his eyes scanned the horizon as he kept prancing around. most wouldn't run without a purpose due to the heat but he didn't care about the heat, sure it was hot running around but he was enjoying the work out as he quickly skid to a stop when he smelled scent markers and he turned around and walked away stiff legged as he want to avoid any prides. his ice-blue eyes drifted over the horizon "How far would I have to run..." he whispered pondering what it would be like to just run without worrying about body heat, food, or water.

With a big stretch and an exaggerated yawn, she hopped down from the tree. She licked her nose with a dry tongue and made a slow trudge to the watering hole. Once there, she squatted down and lowered her snout into the water, opening her mouth a bit to let water flow into it.

he kept wandering until he found a lovely tree and climbed it, watching the wide area around him, he didn't take much interest in anything around him, instead focused on the horizon. he wanted to run away from the dreadful heat that burned his fur and scorched the fields. he rested his head and stared off into the distant sun.

After drinking her fill, she was off again. She knew of a more lush area, with a dozen trees, give or take. It was a long walk, however, especially in this heat. With a sigh, she began heading northeast.

✩ ᴏʀɪᴏɴ ✩

It had been a few days since the last rain had fallen on the savanna, leaving very few watering holes nearby to provide water for the many different creatures that roamed the area. With the many scars that scattered across the lion’s body, however, it was enough to make most animals quickly move away from the watering hole, leaving room for Orion to bend down and lap at the water in order to stay hydrated. The battle-scarred lion drank quietly, taking a seat by the watering hole after a while. He figured it would be nice to relax near a body of water, feeling as though it might also give him an opportunity to catch prey if luck was in his favor.

She walked and walked, but was unable to find said so shady area. After about 30 minutes, she got tired, hungry, and thirsty. With a huff, she made a b-line for the watering hole. Her paws were burning, as was her nose, mouth, and lungs. She panted to try relieve the burning heat that threatened to stop her stride.

The male’s Maroon eyes glanced over to a figure making its way over to the watering hole, noticing the fatigued look in the lioness’ eyes. Did he dare try and help her? Truly, he wasn’t quite sure if the lioness even needed help, but he figured that it would be better safe than sorry. They got up from their seated position, making their way over to the lioness, their tail calmly swaying from side-to-side to show that they weren’t a threat. The last they they wanted to do was to make another lion/lioness feel uncomfortable with their presence.

Ghost slowly sat, her ears swiveling in the direction of something approaching. She glanced over, her eyes sparkling at the sight of such a colorful creature. She stared for a moment, trying to gather the courage to speak.

“..Your very pretty.”

She whispered, looking back to the water.

The lion just gently nodded, noticing how fatigued the lioness looked. They wanted to help her out in any way possible, and that was just what they were going to do. The Felis male gently made his way around the lioness, inspecting if she had any injuries before inquiring about them. “Did you need any help getting to the watering hole? You seem fatigued. With the drought we have, it would be of best interest to get you to water soon.”

She thought for a moment. She wasn’t one to ask for help, or accept it when it was offered, but the heat was making her dizzy and she was losing her sense of direction. With a glance at the ground, she gave a small nod.

The male just nodded in response, helping the lioness to her paws in order to aid her on her way to the watering hole. He made sure to let her lean against him along the way, keeping most of her body weight off of her paws as the two of them walked side-by-side. “If you need to sit down and take a break, then let me know.”

She gave a nod of appreciation, trying not to put her full weight on the male. It felt strange, to have someone help her for once.. But a nice kind of strange.

“..So, are you a loner as well?”

She murmured, trying to make conversation. She wasn’t used to talking to others.

The Felis male waited for a moment or two before responding, not being the most social creature out on the Savannah. However, he didn’t want to seem like he didn’t like the other’s company, so, Orion tried to figure out just how to continue on with the conversation. “Yeah, since my adolescence. You?”
