Here’s a pretty short example of a bio I wrote for a character:
He was born the only child to Jacob and Lisa Alden after they struggled with infertility for years. His first couple years of life, and his parents were over-protective, worried for their only child. However, he eventually got them to back off a little. They still worry deeply for their son. He met and befriended a girl by the name of Ruby when he was about seven years old. They were the best of friends for two years before she passed away from a sickness one winter. He was heartbroken when his friend died, but he eventually moved on, deciding he didn’t really want to make too many friends after that.
When he turned 11, he was wandering through the market in Trost when he saw a small child being bullied by three larger kids. He ran over and got involved, ending up with a deep gash on his bicep because one of the other children had a knife. He eventually scared off the bullies, but the child he’d saved had also run away, not wanting Ace to bully her instead. His mother freaked out when he came home with an injury as bad as the mark on his bicep, and didn’t let him leave the house for almost a week. He eventually convinced her that it was worse to keep him inside all the time, because he never got sunlight.
He started trying to convince his parents to let him join the recruits from the instant he turned 12. They were very reluctant, not wanting him in the military. Eventually, he ran off when he turned 13, joining the recruits against his parents’ wishes. He sent them a letter, informing them what he’d done, and theyd been devastated. However, they realized there was nothing they could do, given hed already gone to the training camp, and would bring their son nothing but problems if they pulled him out. One night, he found an injured baby bird, and ended up taking it in, sneaking it seeds and other scraps he could get. He ended up keeping the bird, and named her Frog, because he thought it was funny..
