Yes, offsprings stats can be influenced by the parents they can be significantly lower than the parents stats though.

People often buy high stater lions and continue training them. Lionesses gain stats from hunting, submales from patrolling. Your pride leader sadly can do neither of that so leveling up is the best and cheapest solution to gain stats.
In order to level up you will need to gain experience and for that reccomend exploring and fighting in explore. You can also use Items like broken drones or giant tortoises for exp gain. There are plenty of items that either give you stats or exp I will try to find a list or wiki page and link it here (found one: wiki stat items page )

Just to be clear most people do buy high stat lions that start off at 1k+ stats that were most likely born with those stats and king them so that the stats are already high.
My kings stats as an example started somewhere between 800 and 900. He reached 1000 at Level 5-7 if I remember correctly.
Also I reccomend playing Baoball (in games). It can give you a few stats daily.

Adding on to Anni's explanation - lionesses can level up as well, but it only really noticeably affects their solo hunting success rate (which is a bit useless if you hunt them as a party of 5 every time as most people do) as well as the prey they can catch, but level 1 lionesses do just fine in that regard, typically. The levelups do not grant additional stats, so many people don't bother with it.

I've noticed that overall, hunting 10 times a day from age 2 until their last breedable day at 14 years old, they'll end up gaining between 1500-1800 stats. I always use chased lionesses, as they have no heritage and can be found at 2yo instead of the minimum regular NCL age of 3yo.
