What gameplay feature is this bug affecting?

What's the issue? Please include any error messages you receive and as much detail as possible.
My karma system is broken. I've been trying to raise my king's karma from -146 to something in the positive number range, but it's not working. At first I thought I was making the wrong choices so I bought the karma outcome from the snakes and used the wiki to make sure I make the correct choices.

For the past week I've been making consistent good karma choices, but my karma still has not moved. I thought again that perhaps it was being raised and I was just remembering the numbers incorrectly. Like maybe my king's karma was originally -176 and I just thought it had originally been -146, but I still wasn't sure so I asked in chat. One player sent me a vulture egg and told me to eat it, which I did. Before eating it I checked with the snakes and my karma was indeed -146. After eating it I checked with the snakes again and rather than the expected -126, it had instead only risen by six points to be -140.

I submitted a modbox ticket. Yesterday, at the request of the mod handling my issue, I had my karma revealed by the snakes. Somehow it had dropped from the previous -140 to -168 even though I had not explored between hatching the first egg and revealing my karma again. I ate another egg, as they requested, and then had my karma revealed by the snakes again. It had gone from -168 to -158. I was then instructed to open a bug report.

I was asked to include these details:

Please provide us with step by step explanation how this bug happened so we can attempt to replicate it. If it's complex, please include screenshots where possible:
I noticed a month or two ago that my previous king, who had previously had a karma rating in the positive integer range, suddenly began displaying evil messages in explore. I went to the snakes and they revealed my karma to be -146. I was confused at this because I hadn't done anything to cause such a drastic decrease in my karma. I initially wrote it off though because I had just changed my title and thought that perhaps that was the cause of it.

After retiring him, my new king also had a karma rating in the positive. Yet a few days after I kinged him he also began to display evil karma messages in explore. I had his karma revealed and it also turned up -146. That was when I began to become suspicious that something might be wrong so I decided on an experiment.

I went to the snakes and bought the explore choices karma reveal for 1000 SB. I also employed the use of the wiki and made nothing but positive karma choices for a week straight. Yet at the end of the week, when I had his karma revealed it was still to -146.

After that I asked chat about it and one user sent me a vulture egg, told me to hatch it and then check my karma again. I did so. Rather than the expected 20 point increase, my karma had only increased by 6 points. Yesterday when the mods asked me to do the same thing it only increased by 10 points after which, as shown above, it decreased at rollover to -162.
