Currently in the backyard of his twoleg home. Oscar sat atop the white fence that made up the only border between his current lifestyle, and the lifestyle he'd been recently longing for. His dark green eyes peered into the depths of the woods, hardly blinking, while the breeze blew towards him, bringing many wild scents to his relatively untrained nose. He took a deep whiff and opened his maw slightly, letting the taste of the forest wash over him. Spirits how he wanted to go in there. He wanted to run through those trees, catch mice and share-tongues with his fellow wild cats. He wanted to carve out a territory of his own, and fight to defend it just like in the Clan tales he'd heard so many stories about.... in fact what was stopping him? Rising up and balance on the fence, the inky black tom felt a shudder travel down his spine as the breeze blew once more. The wind rustling through the underbrush seemed to be almost whispering to him, beckoning even. O-o-o-o-s-s-s-c-a-a-r, he swore he could hear its siren call. He had to wonder if any of his neighbors felt the pull as strongly as he did. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Oscar! This time the call of his name was very real, and the black tom reluctantly pulled his gaze away from the tempting woods. He glanced over his shoulder in the direction from whence the call had come, spying his female twoleg, Carly, standing in the back door of his home. She rattled the tin dish that he knew held the dry kibble he was sick of eating, hoping to entice him. Supper time, Carly called, rattling the dish one time before going back inside, expecting him to come running shortly, as he normally would. In fact his traitorous belly was already rumbling in response. Stubbornly he turned back to the woods, ignoring his twoleg and intending to resume his watch, but he very nearly jumped out of his skin when a familiar white she-cat suddenly jumped up beside him on the fence, deep blue eyes shining bright. "Did someone say supper time?" she chirped, her tone cheery. Oscar let out a heavy breath that ended in a quiet laugh, unable to help the amusement he felt at her words now that his heart had calmed from the scare. "Kitty! You nearly gave me a heart attack, I swear you can hear a food dish rattling from a mile away," he chuckled. Kitty only shrugged at the comment and shifted her weight on the fence so that she was balanced more evenly. "Hey, a cats gotta get her meals where she can, and its not my fault you were to busy staring off into the woods to hear me coming," she teased. Oscar only shrugged in response. 0 players like this post! Like? |

"Anyway," Kitty began, her head tilting slightly to look between Oscar and the treeline he was so fascinated by. "Almost every time I come by your fence, I catch you staring off into those woods, that longing look on your face as if you lost your favorite toy in there, and now here you are again, same expression, and ignoring the dinner bell," she meowed, her tone becoming a bit chastising towards the end of her comment. "What's eating at you Oscar? You're not still considering leaving your twoleg for some fantasy life in the forest...are you?" She questioned. She knew all about the black tom's obsession with the Clan cat stories. He was always talking about them. About how great and noble their way of life was. Tipping his ears back a bit, Oscar would shrug again and looked up at the darkening sky. He was quiet for a bit before a wry smile filtered across his face and he turned to look Kitty in the eye, dark green meeting deep blue. "Honestly, yeah I am, and I think I'm going to do it," He admitted to her, his tail swishing. Kitty's eyes widened and she fixed him with an incredulous look. "Oscar.....being a stray is not a game, or the fantasy you think it is. Its a hard life, full of danger and uncertainty," she said seriously, wanting him to understand. Oscar scoffed at the she-cat's words, a bit offended that she thought so little of his decision. "I know Kitty, I'm not so foolish as to think its stroll in the meadow, I've thought long and hard this. Besides, I'm not going to become a stray, I'm going to became a Warrior, and fantasy you may think it to be, but I'm going to make it a reality," he said confidently. Turning away from her, he hopped down from the fence and padded towards his home. "You'll see Kitty, I'm going to start a wild cat Clan. It'll be the strongest and noblest Clan ever, in fact I'll even call it NobleClan," he said with a chuckle. He would do it tomorrow for sure, at first light. Pausing in his stride for a moment, he looked back over his shoulder at Kitty. "I'll leave some kibble in my dish, so feel free to come in and help yourself later," he invited. Now lifting his tail high, the inky black tom offered a wave of it in farewell before disappearing into his twoleg nest for the night. Leaving the dumfounded she-cat on his fence. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Kitty watched the confidant black tom pad away into his twoleg nest, her mouth slightly agape as she fully processed what he had just told her. Was he really serious? He couldn't be.....but then he did have that look in his eye.... She had known Oscar for about a year now, and almost every single time he had gotten that stubborn glint in those dark green eyes, she already knew there would be no stopping him. Closing her mouth, the white she-cat would look up at the sky, a troubled look on her face. She watched in still silence as the last rays of sunlight slipped beneath the horizon, and the world was cloaked in a gentle darkness, broken only by the light of many streetlamps that sparked to life, blotting out any potential stars. When was the last time she had seen the stars? She couldn't remember. Now lowering her gaze, she peered into the trees that Oscar yearned to enter. Her deep blue eyes searching for whatever it was that drew him to them. She had been born and raised in these suburbs, and while she was a perfectly capable hunter, she normally stuck to the neighborhoods, finding plenty of mice, squirrels and birds to fill her belly whenever she was unable to score a free meal form a kind twoleg, hence, she never really had reason to venture into the woods. Shaking her head with a sigh, her searching gaze coming up empty, the solid white she-cat rose from her perch on the fence and padded off into the night. Having much to think about. She might come back later for that kibble though.... The Next Morning Oscar was up bright and early, Just before dawn, exactly as he'd said he would be. He was currently in his twoleg home, and was sitting on the bed that currently held his sleeping human. He gazed down at Carly's slumbering face, and placed a light paw atop her shoulder. "You were a good human to me Carly, I know you won't understand when you realize i've gone, but just know that it was not because of anything you did..." He paused for a moment before leaning forward and briefly touching his pink nose to her forehead, "I hope you live long and happily," he continued quietly, pulling back just as Carly sleepily mumbled something he didn't understand, unconsciously stroked the top of his head, and turned over to fall back asleep. Blinking slowly, the black tom gazed at her for moment longer before he finally jumped down from the bed and and exited the house through the kitty door, not looking back. Once he was outside, he made a beeline for the fence and hoped on top of it. There he perched, peering into the woods as he had hundreds of times before. This time was different though. 'This is it, today I leave behind this soft pet life, and take my first pawsteps a wild-' his inspiring thoughts were abruptly interrupted, as Kitty suddenly appeared on the fence alongside him, the situation identical to the one the evening before, and startling him just as badly. Before he could open his mouth to complain about her constantly creeping up on him, the white she-cat spoke up first. "I'm coming with you," Kitty blurted out before she could change her mind, her blue eyes determined. "And before you try to talk me out of it, you can save your breath. I'd be no kind of friend if I let you go into those woods and be a wild cat, or clan cat, or whatever you want to call it, by yourself," She huffed, her tail flicking. Oscar only grinned widely at her, his eyes gleaming at her little speech. "I'd be more than happy to have you along Kitty," he purred, butting her shoulder with his own. Kitty only shook her head and muttered under her breath about stubborn, rock-headed toms that didn't know what they were getting themselves into. Making Oscar chuckle. 0 players like this post! Like? Honey | Kittypet | Tags: Oscar & Kitty Another restless night. Honey blinked the sleep out of her eyes and yawned. Lately she had barely been able to get a wink of sleep. Intrusive thoughts of wandering off into the forest had been clouding her thoughts and haunting her dreams. It was driving the young she-cat crazy. Honey had never even considered leaving the comfort of her home before, she was content here. The cream colored tabby got to her paws, getting in a good stretch before padding over to the closest window. Honey gracefully leapt onto the windowsill and peered out into her backyard. “Oh!” Honey purred, spotting two familiar figures perched on the neighboring fence. “It’s Oscar and Kitty, I must go say hello.” As quickly as she got up, Honey jumped down from her spot on the windowsill and scurried down the stairs to her cat door. Honey peaked her head out first, scanning the backyard to make sure her twoleg wasn’t already out gardening. Seeing that the coast was clear, the she-cat made her way outside. The fluffy tabby couldn’t help but let out a content purr as the sun hit her coat, warming her up instantly. “Oscar! Kitty! Good morning!” Honey called before climbing the wood fence. She begun to pad over to them, waving her tail in greeting. “Beautiful morning isn’t it? What are you two up to today?” Crow | Loner | Tags: Open Why was he here? Something inside him, some instinct, had told him to come here. Crow narrowed his eyes, scanning the unfamiliar forest around him. He had heard rumors of a so called ‘Starclan’ guiding cats towards their destined paths but he always had believed that to be a myth. Crow scoffed and shook his head, what nonsense. “Guided by some.. some sky cats?” The dark colored Bengal hissed to himself, finally getting to his paws. His thoughts had been drifting too much, he had to find something to keep himself busy. Crow jumped down from his spot, cold dirt meeting his warm paws. Time to explore this new territory, maybe find an abandoned den to temporarily inhabit. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 16/04/24 @ 12:39:07 by Rein (#447098) |

Two sets of ears, one black and one white, pricked simultaneously as a familiar voice called out to them, and two pairs of eyes turned toward the source of the call. "Honey! Good morning," Oscar called back warmly, his dark green eyes brightening as he waved over the creamy furred tabby she-cat. He smiled broadly when she joined them on the fence and leaned forward to briefly touch his nose to hers in greeting. "It is indeed beautiful morning, and I'm so glad you came out today, because Kitty and I are leaving to become noble warriors of the forest," he meowed gleefully, not beating around the bush. Kitty shook her head at the tom's blunt statement, and peered around him to smile wryly at Honey. "I know we've been listening to him talk about doing this for ages, but unfortunately he seems to be serious this time, and I can't in good consciousness let him go out there by himself," she told the fluffy tabby. Oscar fixed Kitty with a slightly irritated look for just a moment. She kept talking about his decision as though he made it lightly, like it was a game to him. He turned back to look at Honey, his expression serious and he leaned in close again. "Listen, you both might think I'm on catnip or something, but I can feel the forest calling to me, there are days where i swear i can even hear it," he murmured, his tail swishing. "I've seen you in your window from time to time as well Honey, gazing out there......can you honestly tell me you haven't been feeling something beyond passing curiosity, a pull of sorts you just can't shake?" he questioned, his dark green eyes meeting her own. Kitty looked between them curiously, not saying a word. She had not noticing Honey offering the woods any longing looks the way Oscar had. In fact the fluffy tabby always seemed perfectly content with her life as is. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Honey | Kittypet | Tags: Oscar, Kitty “What?” Honey blurted out in surprise, immediately flattening her ears in embarrassment at her sudden outburst. They were leaving to be wild cats? “I know you’ve always talked about this… but you’re really going?” Honey asked softly, turning to Kitty. “Both of you?” Tightness filled the she-cats chest at the thought of being alone again. Yes of course she loved her twoleg, but having other cats around had been so nice. Honey sat down on the fence, wrapping her long tail around her body as if for comfort. She was quiet for a moment, thinking about Oscar’s last comment. “To be honest, yes. I’ve had some strange feelings that I haven’t been able to shake, nor understand, lately.” The tabby replied with a sigh, now turning to face the forest. “I’ve never been interested in going into the forest. My mother told us horror stories about it when my siblings and I were little…” Honey drifted off, remembering that tails of savage wild cats and vicious foxes. A shiver ran through her body at the thought. “You guys are really going out there?” She mumbled, fearful of what may happen to her friends. 0 players like this post! Like? His intense expression softening at Honey's reaction, Oscar would nod in understanding as the cream colored tabby spoke, admitting to him that she had in fact, felt a pull of sorts that she couldn't explain, but was clearly wary of. "I get your reservations about the forest, I do, I still have them myself to be perfectly honest with you," he admitted begrudgingly, "But despite what some cats think-" he paused here to shoot a look over his shoulder at Kitty, who only shrugged. "-I know very well that it will be dangerous at times, but Honey we won't be alone in those woods, we will have each other to lean on for defense and support. We will face each danger together, and come out stronger for it, but more importantly, we will be free to do as we please, to live our lives as our wild African ancestors, and the Clan cats of legend once did," he meowed, his eyes gaining a dreamy far off look. "We'll always have the wind in our fur, and grass beneath our paws, we will have fresh prey in our bellies that taste all the sweeter knowing we secured it ourselves. There won't be anyone who can tell us what we can and can't do, because out there, aside from the obvious laws of nature, the rules will be what we make it," he purred smiling at Honey once more. "You of course are welcome to join Kitty and I on this grand adventure, but I won't think less of you if you choose to stay," he suddenly offered. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Honey | Kittypet | Tags: Oscar & Kitty Honey listened quietly, looking down at her paws until Oscar finished. Widening her eyes in surprise at his offer. Leave the comfort of her home? “Oh, I don’t know...” She replied, turning to look back at the twoleg nest; the place she had called home for most of her short life. The she-cat felt torn. She was scared of leaving her home, where she knew it was safe and she was guaranteed a meal. However the urge to go into the forest had been so strong lately, she couldn’t help but think something bigger was out there waiting for her. Honey looked down at the light purple collar around her neck, bringing her paw up to lightly jingle the bell attached. She frowned slightly, still in thought. After a long pause, Honey sighed and looked back up at the two. “Okay. I’m in.” Her tail began to swish anxiously at her declaration. “I-I’m definitely nervous… but I feel if I don’t go it will be something I will regret forever.” 0 players like this post! Like? |

Oscar was frowning a bit to himself after the abrupt invitation for Honey to join them had left his mouth. He didn't know what possessed him to make such an offer to the creamy furred tabby she-cat. Yes she might have admitted to being drawn to the forest, but he wouldn't peg her as the type to leave the comfort and security of her twoleg nest. So imagine his surprise when Honey spoke up after a moment of quiet, bringing him out of his inner thoughts and accepted his offer, albeit a bit apprehensively. Both Kitty and Oscar looked at Honey in shocked silence for a few moments, before a broad smile split Oscar's face and he uttered a happy yowl. "NobleClan is happy to have you Honey," he purred to her as he began to lean forward in order to touch noses, but before he could, he was nearly knocked off the fence as Kitty pushed past him to meet Honey's gaze, her own deep blue eyes swimming with concern. "Are you really sure about this Honey? You have a good life here, and a wonderful twoleg to look after you. Out there, there aren't any warm beds, or meals brought to you like clock work," she meowed softly. Oscar was one thing, but Honey was another. She didn't want the creamy she-cat to get hurt out there. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Honey | Kittypet | Tags: Oscar & Kitty Honey was quiet for a moment before talking. “I’m not afraid to admit that I’m nervous, and that I definitely have my doubts.” She began, anxiously kneading the wood of the fence. “However the pull I’ve been having to go into the forest, and the strange dreams attached, have been too much.” The tabby explained with an exhausted sigh, finally beginning to relax. The dreams of being in the forest, being a part of a ‘clan’ had been haunting her for too many moons now. The thought of finally putting these obsessive thoughts to bed allowed Honey to feel a bit more calm. She looked at Kitty and smiled softly. “You’re right. I have a good life here… and yes I will miss it.” Honey paused, looking again to the forest. “But even just allowing myself to say that I’m ready to make this journey gives me a strange sense of peace. Even though I’m scared of what lies ahead.” Honey knew a few things from growing up with her mother, Spice. Spice was a stray herself before becoming a kittypet. That’s where all the horror stories of wild clan cats came from. However, her mother had picked a few things up from her stray years that she had passed on to her kits. “I won’t be completely useless either. I know a thing or two about plant life and I can at least catch a mouse.” The she-cat purred, hoping she wouldn’t be a burden on the two. Honey lifted her feathery tail and set it gently on Kitty’s shoulder. “I appreciate your concern for me friend.” She purred, green eyes now almost sparkling with determination. “However I don’t think I could live with myself if I didn’t come with the two of you.” 0 players like this post! Listening as Honey spoke, and knowing the fluffy tabby had truly made up her mind, Kitty would sigh softly in resignation, her gaze drifting skyward. It would seem there would be no dissuading either of her friends from following this 'wild call' they were experiencing. She wished Oscar had not involved Honey in this grand idea of his, but it was clear to see that she had her own reasons for joining them, and that it wasn't just to tag along. Kitty had to respect her for it, as she knew the decision was not made lightly. Her blue eyes lowered to meet Honey's once again, and she smiled as the creamy she-cat rested her long tail on her shoulder in a reassuring gesture, thanking her for her concern. "Ok, alright, I can see there's no changing either of your minds," she relented and stood up on the fence. Her tail swishing back and forth, she turned to look at the treeline that loomed before them. "Let's go be wild," she mused, earning an approving whoop from Oscar in the process. Now lifting her tail, the slender white she cat leapt from the fence and headed into the wood alongside Oscar and Honey. A Few Hours Later.... The three cats had been walking for some time now, following the confident black tom who padded ahead of them. His tail was lifted high, and the thick tip of it was flicking back and forth in time with his steps, keeping rhythm. Birds chirped around them, squirrels chattered about, and the sun filtered through the canopy of leaves above, dappling the forest floor below. A gentle breeze blew towards them, lightly ruffling the pelts of the three felines in an almost playful manner. It truly was a beautiful midsummer day, and It seemed as if nature itself was welcoming them to the forest. So why Couldn't she shake this lingering sense of unease? Perhaps it was just because she was nervous, she'd never been in these woods before after all. Who knows what could be lurking just beyond their senses..... Flicking her ears, Kitty watched their surroundings closely, and suddenly noticed something. That tree they just passed, it had a few very distinctive knots in its trunk. They almost resembled a cats face if you looked close enough, she remembered thinking that the first time they had passed it...And there was that group of rocks they had passed about 30 minutes ago, she knew because one of stones she had noted had a glittery portion to it. She remembered idly thinking that it was pretty for a rock. Dismay started to fill her as it dawned on her what that meant and she halted dead in her tracks. "Oscar!" She growled sharply, making the large black tom stumble to a halt and look back at her in surprise. "Have you not been using your nose? You've lead us in a circle," she accused, watching as the tomcat blanched at her words and glanced around him wide eyed confusion. Oscar was quiet for a few moments before finally looking back at the two she-cats who had been following him for the past few hours, a sheepish expression on his face. "I guess I wasn't really paying attention," he admitted, his tone a bit embarrassed. He had been so filled with content that he was finally answering that unknown call, that paying attention to the direction from whence it came hadn't even crossed his mind. "Well, I guess now's as good a time as any to take a break, maybe try to hunt something? I don't know about either of you but I didn't eat breakfast this morning," he suggested, his cheery tone returning. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Honey | Kittypet | Tags: Oscar & Kitty Honey stifled a laugh, of course they would be walking in circles. Although she found the situation somewhat amusing, anxiety began to fill up in the she-cat’s chest at the thought that none of them knew where they were going. Maybe they could discuss this after some food. “I didn’t eat either, I’m sure we will be able to catch something.” Honey responded, trying to stay optimistic. “Should we mark this area and split up? So we don’t scare each other’s prey away?” She suggested, looking around the area. Crow | Loner | Tags: Oscar, Kitty & Honey Crow’s ears pricked at the sound of voices approaching. “Fox-dung.” The charcoal tom hissed quietly, lowering himself to the ground. It better not be clean cats, that was the last thing he needed. At least in his old territory, he knew their routes and when to avoid certain areas. Crow quietly slunk forward into the brush in front of him. Amber eyes peered through the brush, his gaze landing on three cats. Kittypets? Crow sneered, ears flattening against his head. Well, at least they weren’t clan cats, kittypets he could deal with. However, what were they doing out here? 0 players like this post! Like? |

If she was capable of facepalming, Kitty would have done so at the ridiculous situation, but instead she only uttered an amused sigh at Oscar's words. It was not as though they were on any sort of schedule after all, so she supposed that losing a bit of time by going in a circle was not a huge loss. It did however make her wonder were they should be headed. In any case, Honey was right, they would fare better once they had something in their bellies. She thought back briefly to a blue house back in the neighborhood, knowing that right around this time, the elderly twoleg that lived there would have set out some delicious bits of rotisserie chicken for her, and her stomach grumbled in response. Shaking away the useless memory, the white she cat would nod in agreement with Honey's suggestion. "That sounds like a good idea," she meowed and glanced around briefly, her blue eyes landing on a tree stump off to the side that was located next to a grouping of bushes. She padded over to it and reached up to claw purposefully at the wood. The scent glands between the pads of her paws activated and left behind her distinctive smell of fresh rain and wild mint, effectively scent marking the stump. "This will work as a temporary scent post, you two make it as well and i should be fairly easy to find when we split up, you just have to keep your nose to the wind," she meowed. Oscar was only half listening to Kitty after they had agreed to take a break and hunt for lunch, as his attention was fixed elsewhere. More specifically, it was fixed on the cluster of bushes that the white she-cat was currently next to. He swore he had just seen the reflective shine of a pair of golden eyes, peering at them from within the shadows of the underbrush. The fur on the back of his neck raised slightly as some dormant instinct kicked in and made him feel on edge. "Kitty, I don't want to alarm you, but I think something in that bush is watching us," he meowed hesitantly, his deep green eyes laser focused. Kitty looked back at Oscar when he spoke, and her hackles raised almost instantly at his words. She leapt away from the bush in a single bound and spun to face it, her tail poofed slightly. What could be in there? A badger, a fox, an angry weasel? She didn't know, and the thought was terrifying. She tried to sniff it out, but the wind was blowing away from them, and all she could smell was the forest around her. Where they about to have their first dangerous encounter already?! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Honey | Kittypet | Tags: Oscar, Kitty & Crow Honey’s eyes widened at Oscar’s comment, fur standing on end. Kitty’s reaction only fed into Honey’s anxieties, her claws becoming unsheathed. “D-do you think it’s a fox?” The cream colored tabby asked, forcing herself to stay put and not run like her brain was screaming at her to. Crow | Loner | Tags: Oscar, Kitty & Honey So the other tom had a sharp eye, that was something Crow could respect. The tom smirked as Kitty leapt back, clearly fearful. It was amusing to him, considering out of the three she looked the most capable of surviving outdoors. The Bengal couldn’t help but let out a clearly audible snort of laughter at the sight. They must have all recently decided to leave the comfort of their homes, why else would they be out here? “Well well well.” Crow began, standing up and stepping out of the brush. He was intimidating sight. Ears poking out from the top of the brush before he himself appeared. Crow was an unusually large Bengal, thanks to his extra long limbs. His face seemed to be stuck in either a sly or stoic expression. “What do we have here?” Crow asked, taking a step closer to Kitty to look at her. Although she looked decently well fed, she didn’t have the smell of a kittypet like the other two had. “You three seem a bit far from home… hm?” He continued, turning his gaze towards Oscar and Honey. The fluffy tabby looked pathetic, her large hazel eyes could be compared to the moon with how large they were. Oscar on the other hand, seemed determined. The charcoal tom looked him up and down. Something about the other tom seemed… familiar in a way Crow couldn’t explain. “Who are you?” 0 players like this post! Like? |
